2. Touch the screwdriver or metal object to an
unpainted metal part of your system unit (for
example,
the screws on the rear of the system
unit).

When you do this, you equalize the static
charge on the card, on you, and on the system
unit. You prevent an accidental static
discharge that can damage the sensitive
circuits on the card.
