Using the PeerMaster Setup Utility Program
Manually Assigning Slot Numbers
Note: Do not run the following function when the PeerMaster
device drivers are active. This function will require a reset of
the target PeerMaster adapter which will cause all active
LAN connections to drop.
The /slot parameter is used to manually assign slot numbers to
each PeerMaster adapter. The /bus and /device parameters can be
used to specify a specific adapter if multiple adapters are present. If
multiple adapters are present and the /bus and /device parameters
are omitted, PSSETUP permits you to select a specific adapter from
the list of detected adapters. See “Displaying the PeerMaster
Adapter” on page 148.
The following example shows the use of PSSETUP to manually
assign a slot number to a PeerMaster adapter in a system where PCI
BIOS 2.0 is resident and the /bus and /device parameters are
specified.
1. Insert the PeerMaster PCI Server Adapter Option Diskette into
drive A.
2. At the DOS command prompt, type:
A:\PSSETUP /slot:2 /device:8 /bus:ð and press Enter.
A screen similar to the following is displayed.
PSSETUP: IBM Ethernet PCI PeerMaster Setup Utility V1.x
(c) Copyright 1995 Xpoint Technologies, Inc.
PCI BIOS Version Detected: 2.
Flash Programming in Progress..
Flash Programming Result: Successful
In the above example, the target PeerMaster adapter (device: 8 on
bus: 0) is manually assigned slot number 2. This value is stored in
flash memory on the PeerMaster adapter. PSSETUP will now report
a flash slot value of 2 for this adapter.
