Installing Internal Drives
12. Refer to the following information for help in connecting the
cables properly in a disk-array model.
Example 1: In the original cable routing in a disk-array
model, the backplane in bank C is cabled to Channel 3 on a
ServeRAID adapter. A DASD status cable (also known as a
system status cable) connects the adapter to the backplane.
Example 2: A SCSI cable connects the adapter Channel 3 to
the backplane in bank C; a second SCSI cable connects
Channel 2 to the backplane in bank D. The external
connector on Channel 1 is available for connecting external
devices. A DASD status cable connects the adapter to the
backplanes in banks C and D.
Example 3: A SCSI cable connects the CD-ROM drive to
the system board. A daisy-chain cable connects the input
connector on the bank D backplane to the output connector
on the bank C backplane. A SCSI cable connects the input
connector on the bank C backplane to Channel 3 on the
ServeRAID adapter. A DASD status cable (also known as a
system status cable) connects the adapter to the backplanes
in banks C and D. Channel 1 on the ServeRAID adapter is
available for connecting external devices.
13. Connect the LED cable to connector J4 on the ServeRAID
adapter.
