d) Pull the NVMe drive backplane (B) away from the chassis that uses the thumbscrews, then lift the
NVMe drive backplane from the chassis. See the previous gure.
20. Remove the fans enough to prevent them from interfering with the removal of the backplane:
a) Put your thumb against the front of the latch, (A) as shown in the following gure, and put your
index nger against the rear of the latch.
b) Push against the latch with your thumb and pull out with your index nger. This action releases
the latch.
c) Rotate the handle in the direction shown in the following gure to unlock the fan from its slot.
d) After the fan unlatches, unplug but do not remove fan from its slot. Pull the fan out far enough to
prevent it from interfering with the removal of the sytem backplane. See the following gure.
e) Repeat “20.a” on page 48 through “20.d” on page 48 for the other fans.
