4. If you have installed an optional PCI-X riser-card assembly, disconnect the
riser-card power cable from the riser-card assembly.

5. Remove the expansion-slot cover on the slot that you intend to use and save
for future use.
Attention: PCI expansion-slot covers must be installed on all vacant slots.
This maintains the electronic emissions characteristics of the server and
ensures proper cooling of server components.
6. Follow the instructions that come with the adapter to set any jumpers or
switches.
7. Follow the cabling instructions, if any come with the adapter. Route the adapter
cables before you install the adapter.
8. Insert the adapter into the riser-card assembly, aligning the edge connector on
the adapter with the connector on the riser-card assembly. Press the edge of
the connector firmly into the riser-card assembly. Make sure that the adapter
snaps into the riser-card assembly securely.
