Additional Tool Functions

Overview

The iCarsoft Multi-system Car Diagnostic Tool V2.0 Series is a professional and powerful vehicle fault diagnosis tool designed to provide comprehensive diagnostic capabilities for a wide range of car brands and models. This device is equipped with a 4.0" TFT LCD display with 480x320 pixels, ensuring clear readability of diagnostic information. Its robust design allows for operation in temperatures ranging from 0°C to 50°C and storage from -20°C to 70°C, making it suitable for various working environments. The tool operates on a voltage range of 9V to 18V, with a typical operating current of 150mA at 12V and a power consumption of 1.8W. Its compact dimensions (206 x 104.1 x 32.6 mm) and light weight (312g) contribute to its portability and ease of handling.

Function Description:

The iCarsoft V2.0 Series is designed to perform full ECU diagnosis across all vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag, allowing it to read and clear trouble codes. It supports all ten modes of OBDII/EOBD operation, providing extensive diagnostic coverage. Key functions include:

  • Read Live Data: Displays real-time data from various vehicle sensors and systems, which can be viewed as text values or waveforms, aiding in accurate problem identification.
  • DTC Lookup: Provides definitions for Diagnostic Trouble Codes, helping users understand the nature of detected faults.
  • Review and Report: Allows users to review saved diagnostic data and generate customized test reports, which can be uploaded to a PC via a data cable for printing.
  • Battery Voltage Test: Measures the voltage of the vehicle's battery via the OBD port, especially useful for checking battery status during engine start-up.
  • Multi-language Support: The tool supports multiple languages, including English, German, Dutch, Spanish, and French, enhancing its usability for a global audience.

Usage Features:

The iCarsoft V2.0 Series is designed for user-friendliness with silicone keys for easy operation. The interface includes dedicated buttons for navigation (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT), selection (ENTER), returning to the previous menu (BACK), and accessing help information (HELP). It also features F1 and F2 function buttons for special uses.

The diagnostic process typically involves:

  1. Selecting "Diagnostic" from the main menu.
  2. Choosing the Vehicle Manufacturer and then the specific Vehicle Model. The tool may offer different diagnostic menus based on the vehicle vendor or allow selection via make year or chassis number (e.g., for BENZ).
  3. Selecting a Test Function or Test System, with options for automatic scanning or manual selection of desired systems.
  4. Accessing Function Menus: Once a system is selected, a function menu appears, which may include "Read Module Information" (to view VIN, part number, ECU production date), "Read Fault Code" (to view and save current fault codes), "Clear Fault Memory" (to erase fault codes and freeze frame information), and "View Data" (to see live data).

Maintenance Features:

The iCarsoft V2.0 Series offers several specialized service functions crucial for vehicle maintenance:

  • Oil Light/Service Reset: Resets the service lamp and maintenance period/distance after an oil change, turning off the warning light. This can be done manually or via software reset, depending on the vehicle.
  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) System Maintenance: Deactivates and reactivates the EPB system for brake pad replacement and initialization. This involves activating and deactivating the installation position of the brake caliper actuator.
  • Battery Management System (BMS): Registers a new battery to the BMS after battery replacement, ensuring correct system operation. Users can also review the history of battery replacements.
  • Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Control System: Initiates the DPF regeneration process to clear blockages and turn off the DPF indicator. This feature allows users to request regeneration and view the regeneration status.
  • Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) System: Relearns the throttle valve control value after cleaning or replacing the throttle valve, clearing adaptations as needed.
  • Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) Calibration: Calibrates the steering wheel to a straight-ahead position or recalibrates SAS after steering part replacement.
  • ABS Bleeding (BLD): Releases air from the ABS system to restore brake sensitivity or relearns the system after ABS component replacement (e.g., ABS computer, pump, master cylinder). This function supports both automatic and manual bleeding procedures.
  • Injector Coding (INJ): Relearns or rewrites injector control parameters in the ECU after individual injectors are renewed or replaced, ensuring accurate fuel injection quantity.

Software Update & Data Print:

The tool supports software updates via a PC/laptop running Windows. Users need to download the iCarsoft_MSDIAG_PCClientKits application from the iCarsoft website or their dealer. The scanner connects to the PC via a data cable (or TF card reader) and is recognized by its serial number. The application allows for easy software upgrades and data printing. The data print function enables users to print recorded diagnostic data, module information, live data, and VIN information, which are saved as .rex files on the TF memory card. These files can be cleared, saved as text files, previewed, and printed from the Report Printer center.

Important Notes:

  • Some functions may be limited by vehicle manufacturers due to special factory access codes.
  • The scan tool covers models spanning over 20 years, so certain functions may not be available for all years/models.
  • Users are advised to read the manual, check the product list, and ensure proper connection before use.
  • The tool should not be used in rainy environments or soaked in liquids, and no solvents should be used for cleaning.
  • The vehicle ignition must be ON during diagnostic operations.
