3.3. Barcode Scanning Recommendations
IMPORTANT
When scanning barcodes, it is important to keep the following
recommendations in mind:
 Present one single document at a time.
 Place the barcode face down on and in the center of the scanner
window.
 Place the document horizontally on the scanner window without
moving it.
 If thin paper documents, printed on both sides, need to be
scanned, strong ambient light might enhance paper translucency
and interfere with correct barcode scanning.
 Therefore, IER recommends the use of document media not printed
on the back side or at least with a blank zone on the back of the
barcode area.
