Smooth ball joint operation is vital. They should move
easily and with no stiffness.
This cannot be set satisfactorily in the factory becau-
se of production tolerances For that reason we de-
sign the clips to err on the stiff side. As you will see,
that can be adjusted quickly and easily. To do this,
push one ball joint onto its ball. Thereby the sharp
edged side of the ring must be pointing towards the
ball. Then swivel it in every direction. If you notice
that the clip cannot be moved easily and without
jerking, use a small pair of pliers to squeeze the clip
carefully. Please start with little pressure, then check
its exibility, press again and so on, until the clip swi-
vels easily. Do the same with all the ball joints. The
diagram shows which clip belongs to which ball.
The swashplate has already been tted. Push the
swashplate # 67462 onto the main rotor shaft
# 67382, push on the centre hub # 67369 and use
pliers to push the longer retaining pin # 67400 th-
rough the holes in the shaft and the centre hub. The
pin must sit centrally in the centre hub.The centrehub
retainer # 68215 is then fed over the centre hub and
then the two 2x6x3 ball bearings # 67566 are placed
on the central piece.
Clip the rotorhead # 67370 onto the ball bearings.
Now push the centre hub retainer up until both
securing hooks snap audibly outwards on the rotor
head. After they have snapped in, the head has some
play at the bearings, which is intentional. Bend the
anti-rotation link # 67366 forwards with two ngers
into approximately the shape shown. Then place
the driver onto the pin from above, bend it carefully
and push the other side on from below. Clip the ball
joint onto one of the short arms of the inner ring on
the swashplate. The sharp edged side of the clip is
pointing towards the ball.
