Piccoboard does not work
properly, or not at all
Servos and motors do not
work
Piccolo swings round when
the helicopter lifts off.
The gyro does not work
properly.
Tail rotor mixing ratio
cannot be adjusted.
The two trim pots are very
sensitive, and must be adjusted
with great care.
If you make too coarse an adjustment
it will be difficult to find the correct
setting again.
Disconnect the flight pack and move the pots back to
the base setting as shown. It is advisable to
disconnect the battery briefly after making any
adjustment, to avoid discrepancies when the value is
read in.
Tail rotor mixing not set correctly.
The Piccoboard is installed
incorrectly.
The tail rotor drive system is not
working properly.
The tail swings round.
The gyro is correcting movements
around the wrong axis.
The tail rotor is not powerful enough.
Correct the tail rotor mixing ratio as described.
Ensure that the Piccoboard is properly installed
(correct orientation).
Check the tail rotor drive system; it must not be stiff.
The receiver crystal is not plugged
into the Piccoboard.
Receiver and transmitter crystal
do not match (different channels),
or are damaged.
The two servo plugs
(brown/red/orange) attached to
the Piccoboard are connected to
the receiver section of the
Piccoboard incorrectly, or not at
all.
The receiver cannot pick up the
signals from the transmitter.
The receiver cannot pick up the
signals from the transmitter.
If this is the case, no power is supplied
to the receiver, and it cannot function.
Connecting the plugs the wrong way
round generally does no damage to
the electronics.
The receiver crystal, which is normally supplied with
the transmitter, must be plugged into the Piccoboard
as shown.
Check that both crystals are on the same channel.
Caution: don't mix up the crystals (transmitter = TF or
Tx / Receiver = RA or Rx).
Connect the plugs from the Piccoboard and the
servos to the receiver exactly as described.
Take care to maintain correct polarity.
