Do you have a question about the Indesit THP 752 IX/I and is the answer not in the manual?
This document provides operating instructions for the Indesit THP 752 IX/I HOB, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance.
The Indesit THP 752 IX/I HOB is a gas cooking appliance designed for domestic use. It features multiple GAS BURNERS of varying sizes and power, allowing for versatile cooking. Each burner is controlled by a dedicated Control Knob for GAS BURNERS, which enables flame adjustment from minimum to maximum settings. The hob is equipped with GAS BURNER IGNITION, allowing for automatic lighting of the burners. For safety, it includes SAFETY DEVICES that automatically stop the gas flow if a flame is accidentally extinguished. The hob also comes with a Support Grid for COOKWARE to securely hold pots and pans during cooking.
Starting and Using the Burners: To operate a burner, first ensure the corresponding control knob is in the "Off" position. To light a burner, press down and turn the control knob anti-clockwise to the maximum setting. If the hob has an integrated ignition button, simply press the knob all the way in and turn it anti-clockwise to the "High" setting, holding it until the burner lights. For models with a separate ignition button, hold a lit match or lighter near the burner while pressing down and turning the knob anti-clockwise to the maximum setting. It is crucial to hold the knob pressed for approximately 2-3 seconds after ignition to allow the safety device (thermocouple) to heat up and keep the flame alight. If a flame accidentally extinguishes, turn off the control knob and wait at least 1 minute before attempting to relight it.
Adjusting the Flame: The control knobs allow for precise flame adjustment. The settings typically include "Off," "Maximum," and "Minimum." The "Maximum" setting provides the highest heat, suitable for rapid boiling or searing, while the "Minimum" setting offers a gentle flame for simmering or keeping food warm.
Cookware Selection: For efficient cooking, it is recommended to use cookware appropriate for each burner's size. The diameter of the cookware should match the burner to prevent flames from extending beyond the bottom of the pot, which wastes energy. Always use cookware with a flat base and a cover to maximize heat transfer and minimize energy consumption. When the contents of a pan reach boiling point, the flame should be reduced to the "Minimum" setting.
Pan Stability: To ensure maximum stability, always make sure the pan supports are correctly fitted and that each pan is placed centrally over the burner. Pan handles should be positioned in line with one of the support bars on the pan support grid and should not protrude beyond the front edge of the hob. Well-balanced pans with flat bases, placed centrally over the burner, and with handles aligned with the support fingers, offer the greatest stability.
Safety Precautions During Use: The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use, so care must be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children under 8 years of age should be kept away unless continuously supervised. The hob should not be used by children or individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision and instruction. Unattended cooking with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire; never try to extinguish a fire with water, but switch off the appliance and cover the flame with a lid or fire blanket. Do not store items on the cooking surfaces. The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system. Inappropriate hob guards can cause accidents.
Switching Off the Appliance: Before performing any maintenance or cleaning, always disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply.
Cleaning the Hob Surface: All enamelled and glass parts of the hob should be cleaned with warm water and a neutral cleaning solution. Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned with warm water and a neutral detergent, then dried with a soft cloth or chamois. Any food spills, especially calcareous water or aggressive detergents, should be wiped away immediately before they dry to prevent staining. For baked-on dirt on stainless steel surfaces, use specific cleaners designed for stainless steel. Avoid using abrasive or corrosive products, chlorine-based cleaners, pan scourers, steam cleaning appliances, or flammable products. Do not leave acidic or alkaline substances, such as vinegar, mustard, salt, sugar, or lemon juice, on the hob.
Cleaning Hob Parts: The grids, burner caps, and burners can be removed for cleaning. Clean them by hand with warm water and non-abrasive detergent, ensuring all food residues are removed and that none of the burner openings are clogged. After cleaning, rinse and dry them thoroughly. When reassembling, ensure that burners and burner caps are correctly fitted into their respective housings and that the panstand area is aligned with the burner.
Cleaning Ignition Plugs and Safety Devices: For models equipped with electrical ignition plugs and safety devices, thorough cleaning of the plug ends is essential for correct operation. Check these components frequently and, if necessary, clean them with a damp cloth. Any baked-on food should be removed with a toothpick or needle. To avoid damaging the electric ignition device, do not use it when the burners are not in their housing.
Gas Tap Maintenance: Over time, the gas taps may become jammed or difficult to turn. If this occurs, the tap must be replaced by a qualified technician authorized by the manufacturer.
Troubleshooting: If the appliance does not function properly, first check for interruptions in the gas and electrical supplies and ensure that the gas valves for the mains are open.
For any malfunctions that cannot be resolved with these checks, contact a Service Centre for assistance. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself.
