A270 - Maintenance on non-contact tool monitoring system Renishaw NC-4
Carrying out the maintenance activities described below requires
special knowledge. For this reason, these maintenance activities
must only be carried out by staff that has received adequate training
by the machine manufacturer!
Orientation
Due to different requirements and/or specifications of the respective
manufacturers, be sure to review the respective manufacturer's
documentation!
Example: Non-contact tool monitoring system RENISHAW NC4
There is a risk of harmful exposure to radiation (Class 2). Do not look
into the beam. Never expose your eyes to the laser beam with optical
devices. Also make sure that the beam is not reflected by a mirror or
a reflective surface into the eyes of another person.
The NC4 is a system for non-contact laser-based tool measurement that enables
automatic, highly accurate and fast measurement of cutting tools on machining
centers under normal operating conditions. If a tool is moved through the laser
beam, the system detects the interruption of the beam. By means of output signals,
which are sent to the controller, the presence of a tool and the position of the tool tip
(tool breakage detection) can thus be detected.
The manufacturer recommends monthly maintenance of the optics. The
maintenance intervals should be adapted to the operating conditions and may be
extended or shortened as appropriate.
