Overview

This document is a Quick Setup Guide for an Insignia 32" 720p 60Hz LED TV, models NS-32D310NA21 and NS-32D310CA21. It provides instructions for initial setup, including physical installation, making connections, and basic operation using the remote control. The guide also offers troubleshooting tips for universal remote control setup and directs users to online resources for further support.

Installation and Setup:

The initial setup involves two main options for mounting the TV: using the included stands or wall-mounting.

  • Installing the Stands:

    1. Place the TV face-down on a cushioned, clean surface to prevent scratches or damage.
    2. Align the screw holes on the TV stands with the corresponding holes on the bottom of the TV.
    3. Use a Phillips screwdriver and the two provided screws (4mm x 14mm length, 4 pcs.) to securely attach each stand to the TV. The guide includes an illustration showing the stands being attached to the bottom corners of the TV.
  • Wall Mounting:

    1. Before wall-mounting, ensure that the TV stands have been removed.
    2. Verify that the wall-mount bracket you intend to use is capable of supporting the weight of your TV.
    3. Refer to the instructions provided with your specific wall mount for detailed guidance on correct installation.
    4. Important Warning: The TV has four VESA mounting holes on the back. It is crucial to secure the wall-mount bracket to all four holes. Failure to use all four holes can lead to the TV falling, potentially causing property damage or personal injury. Wall-mount screws are not included with the TV and must be purchased separately. The VESA mounting pattern is 100 x 100 mm, requiring Type M4 screws with a minimum length of 10 mm. An illustration shows the back of the TV with the four VESA mounting points.

Making Connections:

The guide details various connection options for external devices, prioritizing video quality.

  • HDMI (Best Video Quality):

    • The TV features two HDMI ports: HDMI 1 (ARC) and HDMI 2.
    • HDMI 1 (ARC) can be used to connect a digital audio system, allowing audio to be sent back to an ARC-compatible soundbar or receiver.
    • HDMI connections provide the best video and audio quality for devices like Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and streaming devices.
    • An illustration shows an HDMI cable connecting from an external device to one of the TV's HDMI ports.
  • AV (Good Video Quality):

    • The TV includes AV IN ports (L-AUDIO-R for audio and VIDEO for video).
    • These are typically used for older devices that do not have HDMI outputs, such as VCRs or older gaming consoles.
    • An illustration shows RCA cables (yellow for video, red and white for audio) connecting from an external device to the TV's AV IN ports.
  • Coaxial (Good Video Quality):

    • The TV has an ANT/CABLE port for coaxial connections.
    • This port is used to connect an antenna to access live over-the-air TV channels or for a direct cable TV connection.
    • An illustration shows a coaxial cable connecting from an antenna or cable wall outlet to the TV's ANT/CABLE port.
  • Audio Options:

    • For digital audio output, you can use either the DIGITAL OPTICAL OUTPUT jack or the HDMI 1 (ARC) jack.
    • The DIGITAL OPTICAL OUTPUT allows connection to a soundbar or audio receiver using an optical cable.
    • To change the digital audio format, navigate to the TV's Audio menu, select "Audio Format/Audio Delay," and then set "Audio Format" to PCM.
    • For analog audio input, the TV has L-AUDIO-R ports (part of the AV IN section).
    • Illustrations show connections for both optical audio out to a soundbar and analog audio in from an external device.

Features Overview:

The guide provides a visual representation of the TV's side panel and front panel features.

  • Side Panel Ports:

    • USB port: For connecting USB devices, likely for media playback (e.g., photos).
    • OPTICAL OUTPUT: Digital audio output.
    • HDMI 2, HDMI 1 (ARC): HDMI input ports.
    • AV IN (VIDEO, L-AUDIO-R): Analog video and audio input.
    • ANT/CABLE: Coaxial input.
    • HDMI OUT: This label appears in the diagram but is likely a mislabeling or refers to an internal component, as TVs typically have HDMI IN ports, not OUT.
  • Front Panel Controls:

    • Power/Input button: A single button that serves multiple functions. A short press turns the TV on or off manually. When the TV is on, a short press changes inputs. A long press turns off the TV.
    • Power indicator/Remote control sensor: An LED that indicates the TV's power status and receives signals from the remote control.
    • Note: The guide states that images do not necessarily represent the exact design of the television, implying slight variations may exist.

Turning On Your TV and Remote Control Usage:

  • Initial Power-Up:

    1. Plug the power cord into a power outlet.
    2. Remove the remote control cover and install two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions for initial setup, which typically includes selecting a menu language (English, Français, Español).

    • Power: Turns the TV on or off.
    • INPUT: Opens the INPUT SOURCE list (TV, HDMI1, HDMI2, AV, USB(Photos)).
