Usage Features
Setup:
- Location: The pool must be set up on an absolutely flat and level surface. Uneven ground can lead to pool collapse or injury.
- Ground Preparation: The surface must be compact and firm enough to withstand the weight of a fully set-up pool. Do not set up the pool on mud, sand, soft, or loose soil conditions.
- Clearance: The pool requires at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) of clear space around it from objects that a child could climb on to gain access to the pool.
- Electrical Safety: If using an electrical pump, connect it to a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) or residual current device (RCD) to reduce the risk of electrical shock. Do not use extension cords.
- Liner Preparation: Spread out the ground cloth and then the pool liner. Ensure the drain plug is closed and the drain cap on the outside is screwed on tightly.
- Frame Assembly: Assemble the frame components, including T-joints, vertical legs, and horizontal beams, following the instructions to ensure proper alignment and secure connections. The frame is designed with "snap" connections for ease of assembly.
- Filling: Fill the pool with water, ensuring the drain plug inside the pool is closed and the drain cap on the outside is screwed on tightly. Fill the pool with no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) of water initially to check for levelness and smooth out wrinkles in the liner. Once level, continue filling to the appropriate water level, which is typically just below the sleeve line.
Safety:
- Supervision: Constant and competent adult supervision is required at all times when children are in and around the pool.
- Barriers: Install a safety barrier to prevent unauthorized, unintentional, or unsupervised pool entry.
- No Diving/Jumping: Never dive, jump, or slide into the pool.
- Chemicals: Store pool chemicals out of reach of children.
- Emergency Equipment: Keep a working phone and a list of emergency phone numbers near the pool.
- First Aid/CPR: Learn basic life support (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR) and refresh this knowledge regularly.
- Water Safety: Never swim alone. Do not use the pool when using alcohol or drugs.
Maintenance Features
Pool Maintenance and Chemicals:
- Water Quality: Regular maintenance of water quality is crucial for safety and hygiene. This includes testing and treating the pool water with appropriate chemicals.
- Chlorine: Add chlorine to the pool water regularly. Chlorine can be mixed with water in a bucket before adding to the pool.
- Algae Control: Address algae problems promptly. Greenish water or slippery surfaces indicate algae growth, requiring chlorine and pH level adjustment.
- Clarity: Cloudy water can be caused by low chlorine, high pH, or dirty filter. Adjust chemicals and clean/replace filter cartridge as needed.
- Floating Debris: Remove floating debris with a skimmer.
- Sediment: Use an Intex pool vacuum to remove dirt or sand from the pool bottom.
- Surface Debris: Remove leaves, insects, etc., from the pool surface.
- Filter Pump: The filter pump system (e.g., Krystal Clear™ Filter Pump) is essential for maintaining water quality. Ensure it is running for an adequate period each day to circulate and filter the water.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the pool liner and components.
- Drainage: The pool features a drain plug for easy water drainage. To drain the pool, attach the drain connector to the drain valve and direct the water to a suitable drainage area.
Winter Preparations:
- Emptying and Storage: When temperatures drop below 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius), the pool should be emptied and stored in a safe place.
- Cleaning and Drying: Clean and drain the pump, filter housing, and hoses. Remove and discard the old filter cartridge.
- Disassembly: Disassemble the pool frame and liner. Ensure all components are clean and completely dry before storage to prevent mold, mildew, and corrosion.
- Storage Location: Store the pool liner and accessories in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, preferably between 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) and 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).
General Aquatic Safety:
- Supervision: Always supervise children and individuals with limited swimming abilities.
- Familiarize with Rules: Understand and follow all safety guidelines.
- Emergency Preparedness: Know how to respond to emergencies, including CPR and first aid.
- Water Watcher: Designate a competent adult as a "lifeguard" or water watcher.
- Learn to Swim: Encourage all users, especially children, to learn to swim.
- Protective Devices: Instruct users about potential pool hazards and the use of protective devices such as locked doors, barriers, etc.
- Emergency Procedures: Instruct all pool users, including children, what to do in case of an emergency.
- Good Judgment: Always use common sense and good judgment when enjoying any water activity.
- Supervise: Supervise, supervise, supervise.
