Overview

The InVue Zips is a single-port alarm unit designed for securing merchandise, available in models ZB1000, ZB3002, and ZB4001. It integrates a high-security plate and power cable for robust protection and flexible installation options.

Function Description:

The primary function of the InVue Zips is to provide a security alarm for displayed merchandise. It operates by detecting unauthorized removal or tampering with the attached sensor, triggering an audible alarm to deter theft. The system can be configured for either standalone battery operation or continuous power via a power cable, offering versatility in deployment. The high-security plate option enhances the physical security of the alarm unit, making it more resistant to forced removal. The system is armed and disarmed using a coded and charged InVue OneKEY, ensuring controlled access and management.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models: ZB1000, ZB3002, ZB4001 (specific differences between models are not detailed in the provided manual but generally relate to features or power options).
  • Power Source: Battery-operated (activated by pulling a tab) or powered via a power cable (ZB4001 model).
  • Battery Type: InVue recommends Vinnic, Great Power, Henli Max, or Energizer batteries.
  • Operating Temperature: Batteries should not be heated above 212°F (100°C).
  • Security Features: Audible alarm, high-security plate option, coded OneKEY activation/deactivation, magnetic key for sensor removal.
  • Connectivity: Single port for connecting a Zips sensor.
  • Dimensions/Mounting: Designed for placement above or below a counter, with options for adhesive mounting or screw-down high-security plate attachment.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Installation: The unit can be installed using an adhesive bottom for quick placement or with a high-security plate for enhanced physical attachment.
  • Battery Activation: A simple pull tab activates the internal battery, indicated by an audible "chirp."
  • High Security Plate (Optional): This plate provides a more secure mounting solution, attaching to the fixture with screws and then allowing the alarm unit to align with posts on the plate.
  • Power Cable Option (ZB4001): For continuous power, the ZB4001 model allows connection of a power cable (ZB4001) to the alarm unit, which then connects to a power supply (PS512) plugged into an outlet.
  • System Coding: The system is coded by placing a charged OneKEY on the lens of the alarm unit and pressing its button. This process arms the system.
  • Sensor Connection: A Zips sensor is plugged into the alarm unit. Specific instructions for the sensor itself are referenced as being included with the sensor.
  • Sensor Removal: To remove a sensor, a charged and coded key is used to deactivate the unit. Then, a magnet key is placed on the lock icon above the sensor, pushed in slightly, and the sensor can be unplugged.
  • Flexible Placement: The alarm unit can be placed either above or below the counter, depending on the desired display and security setup.

Maintenance Features:

  • Surface Preparation: Before installation, the mounting surface (and high-security plate, if used) must be cleaned with an alcohol wipe and allowed to dry completely to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Battery Replacement: While not explicitly detailed as a maintenance step, the warning about battery types implies that batteries are user-replaceable.
  • Battery Safety Warning: Users are cautioned against using unrecommended battery types, mixing old and new batteries, or different chemistries, as this can lead to leakage, fire, explosion, and personal injury. Recharging, misuse, short-circuiting, improper storage, discarding, disassembling, or heating batteries above 212°F (100°C) is strictly prohibited. Batteries should be kept away from children.
  • Adhesive Application: When using adhesive mounting, pressure must be applied for at least 10 seconds to ensure a secure bond.

The InVue Zips system offers a robust and flexible solution for securing merchandise, combining ease of installation with advanced security features and clear guidelines for safe operation and battery use.
