INTRODUCTION

Jebao UV clarifiers are carefully inspected and tested to ensure both safety and

operating performance.However,failure to follow the instructions and warnings in the

manual may result in clarifier damage and/or serious injury.Be sure to read and save this

manual for furture reference.

The Jebao UV Clarifier is electrically operated and desighed to be used with an exsting

pond filtration system,which normally includes a mechanical add biobogical filter,filter

pump and hose.The unit is designed for outdoor only.

WARNING: This appliance must be earthed and it is essential that all connections are

securely made.

This product is designed to be permanently wired to a mains supply.

A 10mA or 30 mA residual current device(RCD) must be fitted to the mains supply.

The clarifier is supplied complete with 10m of 3-core electrical cable.The supply cable of

this clarifier cannot be replaced;if the cable is damaged,the clarifier should be

discarded.The installation must conform to the regulations of the local electrical

authority.Do not use the supply cable to lift the clarifier as this may cause damage.

If an extension cable is required,this should be connected to the end of the clarfier cable

using a weatherproof cable connector.The joint must be positioned outside the water in a

suitable dry housing.The extension cable should be of 3-core,0.75mm2 PVC insulated

cable(ref H03VVF) and permanently wired to the mains supply with a 3 AMP fuse.The

clarifier cable(and extension cable) should be adequately protected from damage by

armored conduit.

IMPORTANT-SAFETY WARNING

●Always disconnect all appliances from the electrical supply before putting your hands

in the water whilst the equipment is being installed,repaired,maintained or handled.

●The use of gloves and eye protection is recommended when installing or maintaining

the clear glass tube inside the clarifier.

●Do not run the clarifier dry.

●The clarifier unit is weatherproof but not waterproof and must not be submerged in

water.Therefore,position the unit away from the edge of the pond to prevent the clarifier

being accidentally dropped into the water.

●Exposure to Ultra Violet(UV) radiation can cause damage to eyes and skin.Never look

at the lamp whilst switched on.The lamp can be checked when switched on by looking at

the clear hosetail-a blue glow will be visible when the UV lamp is operating.

●To protect from frost the clarifier should be taken indoors during winter months when

algae growth stops.Clean and dry the unit and store in a dry place.

●Young children should always be supervised when near the water.

INSTALLATION

●To prevent algae growth and green water,the Jebao UV Clarifilter should be run for 24

hours a day during the season.When the UV Clarifiler is used in conjunction with a pond

filter and filter pump,pond water should be clear wihtin 2 weeks.

The Jebao UV Clarifier is an electrically operated device designed to be integrated into an existing pond filtration system to prevent algae growth and green water. It is intended for outdoor use and is supplied complete with a 10m 3-core electrical cable. The unit is available in models PU-11W, PU-18W, and PU-36W.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Jebao UV Clarifier is to clarify pond water by eliminating algae and preventing green water. It achieves this by exposing pond water to Ultra Violet (UV) radiation as water is pumped through the unit. The clarifier works in conjunction with a pond filter and filter pump, and when properly installed and operated, pond water should become clear within two weeks. The unit is designed to run 24 hours a day during the pond season for optimal effectiveness.

Important Technical Specifications:

Power Supply: Designed to be permanently wired to a mains supply.
Safety Device: A 10mA or 30mA residual current device (RCD) must be fitted to the mains supply for safety.
Cable: Supplied with 10m of 3-core electrical cable. The supply cable cannot be replaced; if damaged, the clarifier should be discarded.
Extension Cable (if required): Should be a 3-core, 0.75mm² PVC insulated cable (ref H03VVF) and permanently wired to the mains supply with a 3 AMP fuse. It must be connected using a weatherproof cable connector, positioned outside the water in a dry housing.
Hose Connections: Fitted with universal hosetails to accommodate 3/4", 1", 5/4", and 3/2" diameter flexible hoses. Smaller sections of the hosetails should be trimmed when using larger diameter hoses to avoid impeding water flow. Hose lengths should be kept to a minimum to prevent loss of flow.
Weather Resistance: The unit is weatherproof but not waterproof and must not be submerged in water.

Usage Features:

Installation: The clarifier can be positioned either before or after the main filtration system. It must be installed horizontally on a solid surface by screwing it through the four holes on the securing plates. The lid of the filter can serve as an ideal location if strong enough.
Water Flow: Water must be pumped through the unit; it is not gravity-fed.
Safety Precautions:
- Always disconnect all appliances from the electrical supply before handling, installing, repairing, or maintaining the equipment.
- The use of gloves and eye protection is recommended when installing or maintaining the clear glass tube inside the clarifier.
- Never run the clarifier dry.
- Position the unit away from the edge of the pond to prevent accidental submersion.
- Never look at the UV lamp directly when switched on, as exposure to UV radiation can cause damage to eyes and skin. A blue glow visible through the clear hosetail indicates the UV lamp is operating.
- Young children should always be supervised when near the water.
Algae Control: The unit is designed to prevent algae growth and green water, with clear pond water expected within two weeks when used with a pond filter and filter pump.
Frost Protection: During winter months, when algae growth stops, the clarifier should be taken indoors, cleaned, dried, and stored in a dry place to protect it from frost.

Maintenance Features:

UV Lamp Replacement: The UV lamp should be changed at the beginning of each new season. Even if the lamp appears to be working, its UV effectiveness diminishes over time.
- To replace the lamp:
  1. Unscrew the wired end cap anti-clockwise.
  2. Gently pull out the UV glass tube from its electrical connection.
  3. Insert a new glass tube by gently pushing it into the electrical connection.
  4. Re-assemble the end cap by rotating clockwise.
Cable Protection: The clarifier cable (and any extension cable) should be adequately protected from damage by armored conduit.
Warranty: The product comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering material or manufacturing defects. This warranty covers the substitution of defective parts but is void in cases of improper use, handling, or negligence. Proof of purchase is required for warranty claims.

Disposal Information:

The product bears a symbol indicating it should not be discarded with general household waste. It requires separate collection for electrical and electronic equipment and batteries. These items may contain toxic materials like lead or cadmium. Separate collection allows for material recovery and recycling, reducing demand on natural resources. Private households can return used electrical and electronic equipment to designated collection facilities free of charge, such as council waste sites, electrical retailers, or local authority collection points. Correct disposal contributes positively to environmental protection.
