USER MANUAL - INSTRUCTIONS
Model: J-F20E
20” FAT FOLDING E-BIKE
Thank you for choosing this Jeep e-bike. It has been carefully packed for safe
transportation but will require some customer assembly on delivery. This can be
done by a person familiar with basic bike mechanics. However we do recommend
having a “new bike” set-up and commissioning done at your nearest cycle store.
It is an inexpensive way to ensure correct assembly and that your wheels, brakes,
tyre pressure, gears etc. are all aligned, balanced and functioning properly before
your first ride.

Overview

This document is a user manual for a Jeep 20" Fat Folding E-Bike, model J-F20E. It provides essential information for the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and storage of the electric bicycle.

Function Description

The Jeep J-F20E is a 20-inch fat folding e-bike designed for personal transportation. It combines the convenience of a foldable frame with the assistance of an electric motor, making it suitable for various riding conditions and easy to store or transport. The e-bike features a controller display on the handlebars that provides real-time information about the bike's status, including battery capacity, speed, and power level. It offers pedal assistance, where the electric motor provides support as the rider pedals, and can also be ridden as a normal non-motorized bicycle. The bike is equipped with Shimano gears, offering a choice of 7 gears for different terrains and riding preferences. A front light and horn are integrated for safety.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: J-F20E
  • Wheel Size: 20 inches (fat tires)
  • Maximum Weight Load: 100 kg
  • Maximum Speed: 25 km/h (in accordance with CE regulations and EN15194 directive)
  • Battery Type: Lithium-ion
  • Battery Charging Time: 8 hours for the first charge, 4-5 hours for normal charges.
  • Battery Life: Designed to be extended by fully charging every 2 months when not in use for long periods, and removing the battery pack from the bike if it is not used for a long time and stored at an ambient temperature.
  • Motor: Provides pedal assistance.
  • Gears: Shimano 7-speed derailleur.
  • Display: Electronic display mounted on the left side of the handlebars, indicating battery capacity, running timer, charge indication, brake indication, speed control fault, controller fault, motor fault, speed (km/H), power level, operation (rotates when the bike is moving), total distance, ambient temperature, power on/off and power shift button, and USB charging (5v interface).

Usage Features

  • Powering On/Off: Press the POWER button (13) on the handlebar display for 2 seconds to turn on the display. To turn off, press the POWER button (13) again for 2 seconds.
  • Power Settings: The display, when turned on, allows for changes in speed/power mode to one of three settings by a short press on the POWER button (13). LED 1 indicates minimum power, and LED 3 indicates highest power.
  • Riding Modes: The e-bike can be ridden as a normal bicycle or with power assistance. Riders can select any of the 3 power settings to adjust the effort required for riding.
  • Pedal Assistance: A sensor monitors pedaling to provide smooth, seamless electric power up to its limited speed of 25km/h. Stopping pedaling or turning off the power switch will stop assistance.
  • Range: Under normal circumstances, the battery range is 30-35 km with a fully charged battery. Factors affecting battery charge and maximum distance include road conditions (hilly terrain increases discharge), rider weight and load, weather conditions and ambient temperature, cycling style and speed (constant, moderate speed positively affects battery charge), bike maintenance and servicing, and pedal assistance (more rider input, greater battery range).
  • Folding Mechanism: The bike is designed to fold for compact storage and transport. This involves unfolding the frame, locking the frame latch lever and safety hook, swinging the stem up, and unfolding the pedals. To fold, the process is reversed, including adjusting the left crank angle.
  • Handlebar Stem Disassembly: The handlebar stem can be disassembled by pulling away the handle post latch, folding down the stem, and adjusting the T-handle so the front wheel stays parallel to the handlebar.
  • Battery Removal: The battery can be removed by turning off the bike, folding open the frame to reveal the battery, using a key to unlock it, and sliding it out.
  • Saddle Adjustment: The saddle height can be adjusted by opening the quick-release lever, moving the seat post to the desired height (ensuring it's above the minimum insertion line), and closing the quick-release lever.
  • Brake Adjustment: Brake adjustment involves ensuring the brake surface contacts the disc brake tightly when the lever is clenched to the middle. The brake cable tension adjusting screw can be used to adjust the brake stroke. The brake cable screw can be inward to relax it or outward to tighten it.
  • Pedal Attachment: Pedals are marked "L" for left and "R" for right. The left pedal has a REVERSE thread, and the right pedal has a STANDARD thread.
  • Tire Pressure: Maintaining optimum tire pressure is crucial for achieving achievable battery powered distance and riding comfort.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Charging: The first charge should be 8 hours, and subsequent normal charges take 4-5 hours. To charge, turn off the bike controller, pull out the protective plastic bung in the charging port, ensure the charging port is dry, insert the round charger plug, connect the charger to the mains and switch on. The indicator light on the charger will turn red showing charge in progress, then green when fully charged (after 4-5 hours). Remove the charger and replace the protective plastic bung.
  • Battery Storage: Store the bike fully charged in a dry, indoor area. Turn the power off and ensure a full charge every 2 months to maintain battery health.
  • Cleaning: Make sure the charging port "bung" is inserted and the power is off before cleaning. Do not use excessive water or high-pressure washers. Use neutral detergent and a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the paint and any dirty surfaces.
  • Disposal: Batteries should not be disposed of with other household waste. They must be disposed of properly according to local recycling and environmental regulations.
  • Warranty: The e-bike is warranted against defects in materials, workmanship, and functionality for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover product misuse, user negligence, accidental or abnormal conditions of operation, normal wear and tear, or natural battery capacity fadeout. The battery carries a separate 6-month warranty.
  • After-Sales Support: Jeep e-bike uses industry standard parts that are serviceable at most cycle stores. Contact your retailer if you encounter any technical problems.
