5. Wire feed
Picture 5.1 Wire feed unit
Four-roller drive
Four interlocked wire feed rollers ensure safe feeding of the weld wire. Depending on the wire used, the
respective feed roller with matching groove must be set in. All feed-rollers are intended for two-sided use. To
turn or exchange the feed-rollers, remove the hex socket screws (4). Ensure that the grooves of the feed-rollers
(5,6) are in true alignment with the wire guide tube (7).
When working with solid wire, the feed-rollers must be mounted as follows:
- upper wire-feed rollers (5) with smooth surface
- lower wire-feed rollers (6) with V-shaped groove matching the wire diameter used
(0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm).
The knurled groove is intended for working with cored or tubular wire. The point of contact pressure of the
feed-rollers is to be set by means of a twist handle (3) in such a way that steady conveyence of the wire is
ensured and, if the wire is held fast at the contact tip nozzle, it slides without buckling.
Wire spool brake
The wire-holding arbor (1) includes a spool brake to prevent the wire spool from running on when the wire-feed
motor is stopped. The braking effect is increased by turning the hex socket screw (2) in clockwise direction.
