The JML DriBUDDI is a warm air clothes dryer designed for indoor household use. It provides a convenient way to dry fabrics that have been washed in water, offering an alternative to traditional tumble dryers or outdoor line drying.
Function Description:
The DriBUDDI operates by circulating warm air around clothes hung inside a canvas cover. The main components include a Motor Unit (B) which generates the warm air, a Clothing Rack (A) with Clothes Hangers (E) to hold garments, a Waterproof Plate (G) to protect the motor from dripping water, and a Cover (D) that encloses the clothes to create a drying chamber. The warm air helps to evaporate moisture from the clothes, drying them efficiently.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Rated Voltage: 220-240V
- Rated Frequency: 50Hz
- Rated Power: 1200W
- Degree of Protection: IP21
- Maximum Capacity: 10kg of damp clothing
Usage Features:
- Assembly: The device requires simple assembly. This involves inserting three Dryer Legs (I) into the base of the Motor Unit (B), screwing the Lower Tube (F) through the Waterproof Plate (G) onto the Motor Unit, and then screwing the Clothes Hanger (E) onto the Lower Tube. The Clothes Hanger arms are then pushed upwards, similar to opening an umbrella, until they are horizontal and click into place. Finally, the Cover (D) is placed around the assembled unit, ensuring the black ring at the bottom of the cover sits around the metal grill on the Motor Unit, and all zips are fastened.
- Loading Clothes: Before placing clothes inside, the user unzips the cover and pulls it down, leaving the black ring above the Motor Unit. Wet clothes, ideally spin-dried by a washing machine or well-wrung if hand washed, are then placed on coat hangers (plastic hangers are recommended) and hung on the Clothes Hanger. The DriBUDDI can accommodate up to 18 garments. Clothes should not be dripping wet and should be hung with enough space between them to allow air to circulate for quicker drying. Long clothes should be positioned correctly to avoid obstructing the warm air vent.
- Operation: Once clothes are loaded and the cover is zipped up, the DriBUDDI is plugged into a mains socket and switched on. A light on the Timer Dial (H) indicates that the unit is on.
- Timer Settings: The DriBUDDI offers two operating modes via the Timer Dial (H):
- Set the timer: Turning the dial clockwise sets a specific drying time. The unit will automatically switch off once the timer reaches zero. The timer can be set up to 180 minutes.
- Set to Long On: Turning the dial anti-clockwise activates a continuous "Long On" mode. In this mode, the DriBUDDI will remain on until manually turned off by the user.
- Ventilation: The DriBUDDI should always be used in a well-ventilated area. If natural ventilation is insufficient, it can be used near an open window. It should not be pushed directly against a wall; a gap of at least an inch should be maintained for air circulation.
- Safety Precautions:
- Do not overload the unit beyond its 10kg capacity.
- Keep the unit at least 1.5 metres away from water or fire sources.
- Ensure the holes on top of the Cover are not covered during operation.
- The Motor Unit may become hot during use; avoid touching metal parts.
- The unit is not intended to be used as a warm heater without the canvas bag.
- Keep children away from the unit during use.
- Unplug the cord after use, before assembly/disassembly, and before cleaning.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The exterior of the DriBUDDI can be cleaned with a damp cloth. It should not be rinsed with water.
- Vent Cleaning: The vent on the underside of the Motor Unit should be regularly checked for dust or fluff accumulation. Any debris should be removed to ensure proper airflow. Only a dry or lightly moist cloth should be used for cleaning the motor vent.
- Power Cord and Plug Inspection: Periodically check the power cord and plug for any damage. If damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified electrician.
- Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect the unit to ensure clothes have not fallen off their hangers, which could obstruct airflow.
- Storage: Unplug the unit when not in use.
Additional Notes:
- The DriBUDDI is distributed by JML.
- It comes with a one-year guarantee against defects in workmanship and materials.
- The product is covered by WEEE regulations and should be recycled at a local collection centre.
- The UK and Ireland versions are fitted with a BS 1363 13-amp plug, and fuse replacement instructions are provided.
