Applications
The TEC3000 Series Proportional Fan Coil and Individual Zone Thermostat Controllers are stand-alone and
field-selectable BACnet® MS/TP or N2 networked devices that provide control of the following:
local hydronic reheat valves
pressure-dependent variable air volume (VAV) equipment with or without local reheat
two- or four-pipe fan coils
cabinet unit heaters
other individual zone equipment using a proportional 0 to 10 VDC control input
The networked models feature a field-selectable Building Automation System (BAS) BACnet MS/TP or N2
communication capability that enables remote monitoring and programming for efficient space temperature control.
All models include a USB port configuration that reduces installation time by allowing simple backup and restore
features from a USB drive, which enables rapid cloning of configuration between like units.
Some models have occupancy sensing capability built into the device. These thermostat controllers maximize up to
30% energy savings in high-energy usage commercial buildings, such as schools and hotels, during occupied
times by using additional standby setpoints.
All models feature an intuitive onboard touchscreen UI with backlit display that makes setup and operation quick
and easy. Multiple fan configurations are supported for fan coil equipment types:
single-speed
multi-speed (two or three discrete speeds)
variable-speed/EC motors (0 to 10 VDC control)
Some models support dehumidification on two-pipe fan coil units with reheat, and four-pipe fan coil units with or
without reheat. When no heating is required, the thermostat controller monitors space humidity and activates
dehumidification control as necessary. Heat and/or reheat is used as required to maintain the space temperature.
For optimal dehumidification performance, use a fan coil unit that has a multi-speed or variable-speed fan (VSF).

How to troubleshoot a 'Supply Temp Fail' error on a Johnson Controls TEC3620 Controller?
    • C
      Caitlin CampbellAug 26, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Supply Temp Fail', the external supply temperature sensor is either disconnected or has failed. You can try these steps: First, check the sensor wiring. If intentionally disconnected, reset the sensors by going to the menu, then Control Setup, and selecting Inputs. If the problem continues, order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

Why is the TEC3000 zone temperature not changing fast enough on my Johnson Controls TEC3620 Controller?
    • R
      Ryan RiversAug 26, 2025
If the TEC3000 zone temperature on your Johnson Controls Controller isn't changing fast enough compared to a calibrated sensor, it might be because the TEC3000 is set up for larger spaces by default when a proportional device is active. To resolve this, go to Control Setup > Tuning > Equipment Size and select 'Oversized'.

What does 'Changeover Fail' mean on my Johnson Controls TEC3620 and how to fix it?
    • K
      Kayla WiseAug 27, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Changeover Fail', it indicates that the Supply Temperature Sensor is either not installed, has failed, or has been disconnected. As a result, the TEC can't detect the changeover mode for cooling or heating. You can follow the same troubleshooting steps as for a 'Supply Temp Fail' alarm.

How to resolve a 'Board Mismatch' error on my Johnson Controls Controller?
    • A
      Anthony WhiteAug 27, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Board Mismatch', it means the baseboard and CPU board are not correctly paired. The TEC will show an error message with the model numbers of both boards. To fix this, match the baseboard to its corresponding CPU board.

What causes 'Humidity Unreliable' on a Johnson Controls Controller?
    • J
      Janice GarnerAug 29, 2025
If the zone humidity reading on your Johnson Controls Controller was reliable but has now failed, and if the source of zone humidity was the onboard sensor, contact Johnson Controls product sales and support. If the source was a BAS, check the BAS to ensure it's online and providing the TEC with the humidity reading. If you intentionally removed the BAS mapping, reset the sensors through the menu.

How do I fix a 'Firmware Mismatch' error on my Johnson Controls Controller?
    • M
      malonereginaldAug 29, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Firmware Mismatch', it means a previous upgrade or downgrade hasn't completed. If it's due to an incomplete upgrade, upgrade the TEC3000 to the latest released version, then upgrade it to the current version again. If it's an incomplete downgrade because the previous version is no longer supported, reboot the TEC3000 to clear the fault.

What to do if my Johnson Controls TEC3620 Controller shows 'Open Window'?
    • T
      Tracy BarryAug 30, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Open Window' and control has shut down, it means the switch connected to the BI configured for Open Window is sensing that a window is open. To solve this: First, close the window. If the problem persists, check the sensor functionality with an ohmmeter and verify the wiring to the TEC. If needed, order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

What to do if the touchscreen is unavailable on my Johnson Controls TEC3620?
    • T
      tinaharrellAug 23, 2025
If the touchscreen components on your Johnson Controls Controller have failed to initialize, try rebooting the controller. If the problem continues, you may need to order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

Why is 'Dehum Unavailable' on my Johnson Controls TEC3620 Controller?
    • M
      Michael BellSep 1, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'Dehum Unavailable', it means dehumidification is unavailable because the zone humidity sensor has either failed or the humidity reading isn't reliable. If the zone humidity source was a BAS, check the BAS to ensure it's online and providing the TEC with the humidity reading. If you intentionally removed the BAS mapping, reset the sensors through the menu. If the problem continues, you may need to order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.

What does 'USB Malfunction' mean on my Johnson Controls TEC3620 Controller?
    • B
      bowenchaseSep 2, 2025
If your Johnson Controls Controller displays 'USB Malfunction', it means a USB drive has malfunctioned and drawn too much current. First, try inserting the USB drive again. If that doesn't work, try a different USB drive. If the problem persists, you might need to order replacement units and return the affected devices to Johnson Controls under the RMA program.
