7.22 Dismantling the piston and cylinder

Dismantle:
The cylinder cover
The carburettor (see “Dismantling the
carburettor”)
The mufer
The vibration element
The spark plug cap
The intake system

Unscrew the cylinder’s four screws
and carefully lift away the cylinder and the gasket.
See gure 60.
Cleaning and inspection of the cylinder
Clean all components, scrape off all gasket re-
mains and soot from the following areas:
The piston crown
The top of the cylinder bore (inside)
The cylinder exhaust port
The base of the cylinder and/or crankcase

Cover over the crankcase opening.

Remove the circlips for the gudgeon pin and press
out the gudgeon pin. The lift off the piston. See
gure 61.

Remove the gudgeon pin bearing (the needle
bearing) using a pliers. See gure 61. Replace with
a new bearing.
NOTE!
Take care to prevent any dirt and foreign
particles from entering the crankcase.
