According to the Test Report Sheet the axle C5/C6
has an out of square measurement of -2.5 (see
Test Report Sheet pg. 31).
Measuring of out of square axle C3/C4
Toe-out has been calculated at -2 mm/m.
C3/Dm = - 4 (toe-out)
C4/Dm = +2 (toe-in)
Result - 2 (toe-out)
Toe-out -2 mm/m divided by 2 = -1 mm/m.
Draw a dotted line on the Test Report Sheet from
the center for wheel C3 and C4 to -1 on the scale
at the side of the wheel.
Write down -1 on the dotted line on the right scale
Write down 2 on the solid line.
Out of square is 1 +2 = 3 mm/m.
Write down 3 and circle (+) sign in the “left” square.
Write down out of square +3 at C4 on the lower
picture and draw it with a solid line C3/C4.
Axle C3/C4 is out of square +3 to the left.
Axle C5/C6 is out of square -2.5 to the right.
The difference between the axles is evident at
wheels C4 & C6. +3 is added to -2.5 = 5.5 mm/m.
When one axle is out of square to the left and the
other to the right, the two values should be added
together. The axles are not parallel.
When the axles are out of square in the same
direction, the smaller value should be subtracted
from the larger value.
For example:
Axle C3/C4 is out of square -3 to the right.
Axle C5/C6 is out of square -2.5 to the right.
-3 – -2.5 = 0.5 mm/m.
The axles are parallel.
