Overview

This document describes the Kärcher K 2.490 high-pressure cleaner, a device designed for domestic use.

Function Description:

The Kärcher K 2.490 is a high-pressure cleaner intended for private household use. Its primary function is to clean various items and surfaces using a high-pressure water jet, with the option of adding detergents. This includes machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, facades, terraces, and garden equipment. The device is designed to be used with accessories, replacement parts, and detergents approved by Kärcher, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

The high-pressure cleaner features a main switch ("0/OFF" / "I/ON") to prevent unintentional operation. A lock on the trigger gun prevents accidental activation of the high-pressure jet. An overflow valve with a pressure switch ensures that the permissible working pressure is not exceeded. If the trigger gun lever is released, the pressure switch turns off the pump, stopping the high-pressure jet. When the lever is pulled again, the pump restarts.

The device includes a detergent suction hose with a filter and a detergent tank for applying cleaning solutions. It can be used with various spray lances, including a Dirtblaster for stubborn dirt and a Vario Power spray lance for pressure regulation, allowing adjustment between "Min" and "Max" settings. A washing brush is also available for specific cleaning tasks.

Usage Features:

Before initial operation, loose parts such as transport wheels and the transport handle must be assembled. The high-pressure hose is connected to the appliance and the trigger gun, ensuring a secure, audible lock. The detergent suction hose is inserted into the detergent tank, and the water supply hose is connected to the appliance and a water source.

To operate the device, the water tap must be fully open, the mains plug inserted, and the appliance switched to "I/ON." The trigger gun lever is unlocked and pulled to activate the device. The Vario Power spray lance allows for stepless pressure regulation for common cleaning tasks, and detergent can be added when set to "Mix." The Dirtblaster is used for particularly stubborn dirt but should not be used on sensitive surfaces like car tires, paint, or wood.

When working with detergents, only Kärcher-approved products should be used. The detergent solution is filled into the tank, sparingly sprayed onto the dry surface, allowed to react, and then rinsed off with the high-pressure jet.

For extended work breaks, the trigger gun lever should be locked, and the appliance switched off. After using detergents, the appliance should be run for approximately one minute with clear water to rinse it. The appliance should then be switched off, the water tap closed, and any remaining pressure in the system released by pressing the trigger gun lever.

Maintenance Features:

The Kärcher K 2.490 is designed to be maintenance-free. However, before longer storage periods, especially during winter, it is important to clean the filter of the detergent suction hose and the sieve in the water connection under running water.

For frost protection, the appliance and its accessories must be completely drained of water. This is achieved by operating the appliance for a maximum of one minute with the high-pressure hose and water supply disconnected, until no more water exits the high-pressure connection. The appliance and all accessories should then be stored in a frost-free room.

In case of minor faults, a troubleshooting guide is provided in the manual. For more complex issues, authorized customer service should be consulted. Only original Kärcher spare parts should be used for repairs.
