Device Registration

Sign Up for RAPT Account

Create an account on the RAPT portal (app.rapt.io) for real-time tracking.

Connect to Pill Wi-Fi

Connect your smart device to the RAPT Pill's Wi-Fi network using the provided password.

Open Captive Portal

Access the captive portal via Wi-Fi prompt or by manually selecting the RAPT Pill Wi-Fi network.

Connect to Home Wi-Fi

Connect the Pill to your home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Register to RAPT Cloud

Log in to RAPT Portal, add new device, and enter MAC/User Code to complete registration.

Assembly and Operation

Assembly Instructions

Insert the circuit board into the housing correctly and seal for a hermetic fit.

Calibrate Before Use

Calibrate the device, assemble, and confirm telemetry by testing in a liquid.

Sanitise the Pill

Sanitise the RAPT Pill using approved sanitisers like StellarSan or Phosphoric Acid.

Use in Fermenter

Place the RAPT Pill in your fermenter to monitor specific gravity and temperature.

Sleep Mode Operation

The Pill enters sleep mode horizontally; keep horizontal when not in use.

Calibration Procedures

Prepare for Calibration

Plug Pill into USB-C, connect to its Wi-Fi, and open the captive portal.

Select Calibration Method

Navigate to the Calibration tab and choose Standard, Advanced, or Custom.

Maintain Connection During Calibration

Ensure the portal remains active during calibration, especially for longer processes.

Standard Calibration

Quickest and simplest method using a liquid of known gravity, e.g., water at 1.000.

Advanced Calibration

Provides greater accuracy across a wider range using two known gravity solutions.

Custom Calibration

For advanced users; requires multiple gravity readings to create a polynomial trend line.

Custom Calibration Equation

Use the generated trend line equation, substituting 'x' with '*angle^', for accurate custom calibration.

Firmware Updates

Automatic Firmware Updates

The Pill automatically checks and installs firmware updates when plugged into USB power.

Manual Firmware Update

Access Diagnostics via the portal and press the "DO OTA UPDATE" button to update manually.

Troubleshooting

Green Light Not Illuminating

Battery is below minimum charge. Connect to USB-C for 30 mins, then unplug/reconnect.

Red Light Flashing

Install battery correctly or check for good contact with terminals.

Lights Turn Off Immediately

Battery may be faulty, have poor contact, or insufficient charge. Check voltage.

Battery Level Issues

Battery level 0% or not displaying; needs full charge to display percentage correctly.

Device Sleep Behavior

Lights stop flashing and no lights when unplugged are normal sleep states.

Captive Portal Access

Portal only accessible via USB-C. Reconnect to USB-C to regain access after sleep.

User Code Not Appearing

Ensure the RAPT Pill is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

No Telemetry Displayed

Default telemetry is 60 mins. Check Wi-Fi connection and signal strength if no data appears.

Check IP Address (STA)

Navigate to Diagnostics to check your network's IP address next to IP (STA).

Check Signal Strength

Log in to RAPT Portal and check signal strength for a reliable connection.

Re-Register RAPT Pill

If telemetry issues persist, re-register the Pill via the captive portal and RAPT Portal.

Pill Not Sending Telemetry

Check Wi-Fi range, battery, network, loose terminals, or security settings.

Missing Gravity Data

Indicates incorrect calibration or gravity out of range if battery/temp data is present.
