This document describes the Kelvinator Window Wall (Electronic) Room Air Conditioner, a range of units designed for cooling and heating residential spaces. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.
Function Description
The Kelvinator Window Wall air conditioner is an electronic room air conditioner available in various models, including KWH22CRF, KWH22HRF, KWH27CRF, KWH27HRF, KWH39CRF, KWH39HRF, KWH53CRF, KWH53HRF, KWH60CRF, and KWH60HRF. These models utilize Refrigerant R32, an environmentally conscious choice. The units are designed to provide comfortable indoor temperatures through cooling and, for "HRF" models, heating functions.
The air conditioner operates with multiple modes:
- AUTO Mode: Automatically selects the appropriate operating mode (FAN, COOL, DRY, or HEAT for reverse cycle models; FAN, COOL, or DRY for cooling-only models) based on the temperature difference between the actual and desired room temperature. The default heating temperature set point is 20°C, and the default cooling temperature set point is 25°C.
- COOL Mode: Provides cooling when the room temperature exceeds the set point. The fan continues to run even when the compressor cycles off. Temperature settings are adjustable from 16°C to 30°C.
- HEAT Mode: (For reverse cycle models) Provides heating. Temperature settings are adjustable from 16°C to 30°C.
- DRY Mode: Functions as a dehumidifier, reducing humidity in the room. Some cooling will occur in this mode.
- FAN Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating, offering various fan speeds (LOW, MED, HIGH, AUTO).
The unit features an automatic air swing (oscillation) function, which moves the vertical louvers back and forth to distribute air evenly throughout the room. This can be activated or deactivated using the "SWING" keypad.
A "SLEEP" feature is available, which adjusts the set temperature by 1°C per hour (increasing in cooling mode, decreasing in heating mode) for the first two hours, then maintains that temperature. The fan motor remains at LOW speed during this mode.
The "TIMER" function allows users to set auto start/stop programs for the unit, with a range of 0.5 to 24 hours.
Usage Features
The air conditioner is controlled via an electronic keypad on the unit and a handheld remote control. The remote control offers full operational control from a distance of up to 7 meters (23ft).
Key controls on both the unit and remote include:
- POWER: Turns the unit on/off.
- MODE: Selects the operating mode (AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN, HEAT).
- Temperature Adjustment: Up and down arrows to increase or decrease the set temperature in 1°C increments (16°C to 30°C).
- FAN Speed: Cycles through LOW, MED, HIGH, and AUTO fan speeds.
- SWING: Activates/deactivates automatic vertical louver oscillation.
- TIMER: Activates auto start/stop timer function (0.5-24 hours).
- SLEEP: Activates/deactivates the sleep mode.
- LIGHT: (Remote control only) Turns the control panel display on/off.
- FOLLOW ME: (Remote control only) Allows the indoor ambient temperature reading to be taken from the remote control itself, sending signals to the air conditioner every 10 minutes. This feature is canceled if the unit doesn't receive a signal for 10 minutes.
The unit also includes a vent control, located above the control keypad, which can be opened or closed. Closing the vent maximizes cooling efficiency by allowing internal air circulation, while opening it allows for fresh air intake.
For manual vertical airflow adjustment, users can adjust the horizontal louver blades, ensuring the top or bottom blades remain horizontal to prevent condensation.
The air conditioner is designed for normal domestic applications. It is important to ensure proper ventilation when used with stoves or other heating devices to prevent oxygen deficiency.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Kelvinator air conditioner.

Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter, located behind the inlet grille, should be checked and cleaned at least once every two weeks, or more frequently if necessary. To clean, the front grille is opened, the filter tab is pulled to release it, and the filter is removed. It should be cleaned with warm, soapy water (below 40°C) and allowed to air dry completely before reinstallation. Do not dry in direct sunlight. Operating the unit without a filter can lead to equipment failure due to dust and dirt accumulation.

Condensed Water Treatment: The unit includes a drain pan and screws for managing condensed water. The drain pan should be installed at the bottom of the unit and secured with the provided screws. A suitable drain hose (not supplied) can be connected to the drain outlet on the underside of the drain pan to direct water to a specific location.

Drain Plug (Cooling-only models): The drain plug is factory-fitted to maximize cooling efficiency by retaining condensed water. While this may result in some splashing sounds, it contributes to performance. The plug can be removed to drain water and/or reduce noise, but this may reduce performance.

General Cleaning: The exterior of the unit should be cleaned with a soft cloth. Avoid using strong detergents, wax, or thinner, as these can damage the surface. Always turn off the power and circuit breaker before cleaning the unit. Do not use water to clean the inside of the air conditioner, as this can damage insulation and cause electric shock.

Long-term Storage: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, turn off the main power switch to prevent product failure or fire. For remote controls, remove batteries if not used for extended periods to prevent leakage.

AUTO Restart: In the event of a power failure, the air conditioner will automatically restart with its previous settings preserved in memory once power is restored.
