Why won't my Kenmore Washer start?

  Your Kenmore Washer might not start due to several reasons. First, ensure the power cord is correctly plugged into a grounded, three-prong outlet and that the outlet has power. Avoid using extension cords. Check your circuit breaker and replace any blown fuses. Remember, the lid must be closed for the washer to operate. Also, the washer pauses during certain cycles, so avoid interrupting it. Over-sudsing, often from using non-HE detergent or too much HE detergent, can also cause the washer to stop. Make sure you are using the correct amount of HE detergent.

  If your Kenmore Washer isn't draining or spinning correctly, and clothes are still wet, it could be due to small items being caught in the pump or between the basket and tub. Try emptying pockets and using garment bags for small items. Also, the cycle you selected might have a low spin speed; cycles with higher spin speeds remove more water. Select Drain/Spin to remove excess water. Overly packed or unbalanced loads can also prevent proper spinning; rearrange the wet load evenly.
