Overview

The Kenwood FDP30 is a versatile food processor designed for a variety of kitchen tasks, offering both standard and optional attachments to cater to diverse culinary needs.

Function Description:

The FDP30 serves as a multi-functional kitchen appliance, capable of blending, chopping, slicing, grating, emulsifying, kneading dough, and juicing citrus fruits. Its core function revolves around a power unit that drives various attachments, allowing for efficient food preparation. The main processor bowl is used with a knife blade for chopping and pureeing, a dough tool for kneading, and an emulsifying disc for creating mixtures like mayonnaise. Slicing and grating discs are available for processing firm and softer food items. The plastic blender attachment is ideal for cold liquids, milkshakes, and ice crushing. Optional attachments further expand its capabilities to include a citrus juicer for extracting juice from fruits, a mini chopper/mill for processing spices and small quantities of food, and a grinding mill for coffee beans and other dry ingredients.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device operates with a power unit that features a speed/pulse control. The processor bowl has a maximum capacity of 1.2 liters for liquids and various weights for solid ingredients, as detailed in the usage chart. The blender goblet also has a capacity of 1.2 liters for cold liquids and 1 liter for milk-based mixtures. The maximum operation times for different functions are specified to prevent damage to the appliance: 60 seconds for the blender, heavy mixtures (dough), and grinding mill, and 30 seconds for the mini chopper/mill. A rest period of 15 minutes is required between continuous operations to allow the appliance to cool down. The appliance is designed to conform to EC Regulation 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The model number (TYPE: FDP30) and a 5-digit date code are located on the underside of the power unit.

Usage Features:

The FDP30 is designed for user-friendly operation with safety interlocks to prevent the appliance from operating if the bowl, lid, or blender is not fitted correctly. For the food processor:

  1. Fit the detachable drive shaft onto the power unit.
  2. Align the bowl with the power unit and turn clockwise to lock it.
  3. Fit the desired attachment over the bowl drive shaft.
  4. Place ingredients in the bowl.
  5. Fit the lid, ensuring the drive shaft/tool locates into the center of the lid. The lid is crucial for operation, as the processor uses the on/off speed control, not the lid itself, to start.
  6. Plug in and select a speed. The pulse (P) setting provides short bursts of power. For the plastic blender:
  7. Fit the sealing ring correctly into the blade assembly.
  8. Insert the blade assembly into the goblet and turn anti-clockwise to secure it.
  9. Add ingredients to the goblet.
  10. Fit the lid onto the goblet and turn clockwise until it clicks, then fit the filler cap.
  11. Place the blender onto the power unit, aligning the symbols and turning clockwise to lock. For the citrus juicer:
  12. Fit the drive shaft and bowl onto the power unit.
  13. Fit the sieve into the bowl, ensuring its handle is locked over the bowl handle.
  14. Place the cone over the drive shaft.
  15. Cut fruit in half, switch on, and press the fruit onto the cone. The appliance includes a pusher for safely pushing food down the feed tube, emphasizing that fingers should never be used. Hot ingredients should not be processed in the food processor or blender to avoid scalding and potential ejection due to sudden steaming. Frozen ingredients for smoothies should be broken up before blending.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning and care are straightforward. The power unit should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried, ensuring the interlock area (8) is clear of food debris. The power unit and blade assemblies must not be immersed in water. The bowl, lid, pusher, and all attachments/tools (except blade assemblies) are suitable for both handwashing and dishwashing. Blade assemblies should be brushed clean and rinsed under running water, with extreme caution due to their sharpness. Discoloration of plastic parts by certain foods is normal and can be removed by rubbing with a cloth dipped in vegetable oil. Always switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning or disassembling. The appliance should be stored with excess cord wound into the storage area (9) at the back of the power unit. In case of damage to the plug or cord, it must be replaced by Kenwood or an authorized repairer. For non-rewireable plugs, the fuse cover must be refitted when replacing the fuse.
