Overview

The Kidde Model 900-CUDR is a combination photoelectric smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm designed for residential use. This multi-criteria device detects both smoke and carbon monoxide from any source of combustion. It is not designed for use in recreational vehicles (RVs) or boats.

Function Description:

The alarm provides early warning of smoke and carbon monoxide presence in a residential environment. It features distinct visual and audible indicators for smoke alarms, CO alarms, and various fault conditions. The unit is equipped with HUSH™ technology to temporarily silence nuisance alarms and includes self-testing features to ensure proper operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Source: Two replaceable AA batteries.
  • Smoke Sensor: Photoelectric.
  • CO Sensor: Electrochemical.
  • Temperature Operating Range: 40°F (4.4°C) to 100°F (37.8°C).
  • Humidity Operating Range: 10-95% RH non-condensing.
  • Audible Alarm: 85+ dB at 10 feet, 3.0 to 3.5 KHz pulsing alarm.
  • End of Unit Life: The unit automatically alerts users to replace it ten years after installation. A label is provided to record the install and replace-by dates.
  • Certifications: UL Listed.

Usage Features:

  • Smoke Alarm Indication: Three long beeps, a 1.5-second pause, and three long beeps repeating. The red LED blinks in time with the alarm pattern.
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm Indication: Four quick beeps repeating every 5 seconds. The red LED blinks in time with the alarm pattern. After 4 minutes in CO alarm, the pattern occurs every 60 seconds.
  • HUSH™ Mode (Smoke Alarm): Allows temporary silencing of nuisance smoke alarms for 8-10 minutes by pressing the button. The red LED blinks every 2 seconds during Hush™ mode. Dense smoke will override this feature.
  • CO Alarm Reset: Pressing the button during a CO alarm stops the alarm pattern. If the unit re-alarms within 6 minutes, it indicates high CO levels.
  • Alarm Memory: The unit retains memory of smoke or CO alarm events (100ppm CO or greater) for 24 hours. Smoke alarm memory is indicated by a red LED blinking every 15 seconds. CO alarm memory is indicated by two red LED blinks every 15 seconds. Pressing the button clears the alarm memory.
  • Test Function: Weekly manual testing is recommended by pressing and releasing the button. A quick beep confirms the button press, followed by a test sequence including a single beep, then 3 long beeps, pause, 3 long beeps, 4 quick beeps, pause, and 4 quick beeps. The red LED blinks in time with the alarm pattern during the test.
  • Self-Testing: Equipped with internal self-testing components that continuously check for proper device operation. A fault signal is generated if the device is not operating as expected.
  • Low Battery Warning: Indicated by an amber LED blinking every 60 seconds and a chirp every 60 seconds. This can be silenced for 24 hours by pressing the button (not possible 7 days after warning begins). Batteries must be replaced within 7 days of the first warning.
  • End of Unit Life Warning: Indicated by an amber LED blinking 2 times every 60 seconds and 2 chirps every 60 seconds. This can be silenced for 24 hours by pressing the button (not possible 7 days after warning begins). The unit must be replaced.

  • Installation: Designed for wall or ceiling surface mount only. Not for recessed mounting. The mounting bracket includes "A" line alignment marks for aesthetic installation.
