When you have found the VRD on your
computer, you will see the Programming
Guide PDF le that is stored there. You will
also see the “Acve” folder, which includes
the conguraon le, named pedals.txt, as
well as a backup of the default pedals.txt
le.
When the VRD is closed, any changes that
have been made and saved in pedals.txt
become acve.
Closing Programming Mode
When you have nished viewing or eding
pedals.txt, be sure to save the le to the
Acve folder if you made changes. Close
the VRD by moving the slide switch back to
“Play.”
NOTE: DO NOT PRESS ANY PEDALS WHILE
WAITING FOR VRD TO CLOSE. IF YOU DO SO
AND THE DEVICE STOPS WORKING, JUST
UNPLUG IT, WAIT 15 SECONDS , THEN RE-
CONNECT THE DEVICE.
Alternate Programming Mode Acvaon
If you have a waterproof model or prefer
not to use the slide switch, you can acvate
Programming Mode by holding down any
pedal briey while plugging the unit in to
the USB port. Or you can hold a pedal
briey while starng or re-boong your
computer.
To close the VRD aer saving any changes
in pedals.txt, simply unplug and replug
your device.
Programming by eding pedals.txt
At this point you should be using the Pro-
gramming Guide found on the virtual re-
movable drive, or downloaded from the
Kinesis website (see link page 8). However,
a brief overview of the programming pro-
cess is provided here.
Using almost any word processing (text
eding) program, you can edit one or more
of the inputs available on various Savant
Elite2 products. Each pedal or jack can
produce one or more keyboard or mouse
acon or combinaons of acons. Ped-
als.txt contains basic instrucons, but more
details (as well as examples which can be
copied and pasted into pedals.txt) are in-
9
cluded in the Programming Guide. Save
pedals.txt as “plain text” or “simple text”
when you are done eding.
(see Programming Guide provided on the
virtual removable drive of the device for
details).
Health and safety ps
New Users, have realisc expectaons!
If you currently have an injury to your
hands or arms, or have had such an injury
in the past, it is important that you have
realisc expectaons of your input device.
You should not expect an immediate im-
provement in your physical condion simp-
ly because you are using a new input de-
vice. Your physical trauma has built up over
months or years, and it may take a number
of weeks before you noce a dierence. At
rst, you may feel some new fague or
discomfort as you adapt to your Kinesis
foot pedal.
Foot pedal is not a medical treatment!
The Kinesis Savant Elite2 foot pedal is not a
medical treatment or a substute for ap-
propriate medical treatment. If any infor-
maon in this guide seems to contradict
the advice you have received from a health
care professional, please follow your health
care professional’s instrucons.
Adjusng pedal force
On the underside of the pedal is a small
plasc screw which
may be gently
turned to adjust
pedal force in the
range of approxi-
mately 3.5 to 4.5 lbs.
Pedals are normally
factory congured
for low force.
Molded marks on
the cartridge indi-
cate "+" for higher
force and "-" for lower force. Using a coin
(penny or dime) or sloed screwdriver,
turn the screw gently to change the force.
Important note: Minimal force (full "-"
adjustment) reaches a hard stop. If force is
used once the stop is felt, the plasc screw
