How to fix a KitchenAid KMHC319ESS that won't turn on?
    • J
      Jessica HansonJul 29, 2025
If your KitchenAid Microwave Oven won't operate, check the household fuse or circuit breaker and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if needed. If the problem continues, call an electrician. Try heating 1 cup (250 mL) of cold water for 2 minutes at 100% cooking power. If the water does not heat, and the microwave oven still does not operate, call for service. Firmly close the door, removing any packaging spacer attached to the inside of the door, if applicable. If a message about the door appears in the display, open and close the door, then start the cycle. Also, ensure the control is set properly, Control Lock is off, and Demo mode (on some models) is off.

The fan running during cooktop usage is normal. The microwave oven’s cooling fan, which is separate from the vent fan, automatically comes on during microwave oven operation to cool the microwave oven. It may also automatically come on and cycle on and off to cool the microwave oven’s controls while the cooktop below is being used.
