2. If the governor gear sha was removed, press or
lightly tap the replacement sha into the closure
plate to depth shown in Figure 10-10.

3. Lubricate the governor cross sha bearing
surfaces in the crankcase with engine oil. Insert
the end with the fl at for the governor gear yoke
into the crankcase fi rst and position so the fl at is
up. See Figure 10-11.

Install Governor Shafts, Seal, and
Governor Gear
If the governor sha s, seal, and/or governor gear were
removed, reassemble as follows.
1. Lightly oil the lip and outside diameter of the
new governor cross sha seal. Install the seal into
the crankcase to the depth shown in Figure 10-8.
