Remove Intake Manifold
1. Remove the hex ange screw securing a ring
terminal which is part of the wiring harness. See
Figure 8-50.
4. Remove the intake manifold and the intake
manifold gaskets.
5. Leave the wiring harness a ached to the
manifold.
Remove Spark Plugs
1. Remove the spark plug from each cylinder head.
See Figure 8-52.

2. Remove the four hex ange screws securing
the intake manifold to the cylinder heads. Note
which screws hold the wiring clamp.
3. Unclasp the wiring harness from the clip using a
screwdriver. See Figure 8-51.

Remove Cylinder Heads and Hydraulic
Lifters
NOTE: Cylinder heads are retained using either
hex ange screws or hex ange nuts and
washers on studs. Do not interchange or mix
components.
1. Remove the four hex ange screws or hex nuts
and washers securing each cylinder head. See
Figure 8-53. Discard the screws or nuts and
washers once removed. Do not reuse. Studs (if
present) should only be removed if damaged
or if cylinder reconditioning is necessary. Once
removed, they must be replaced.
