Congratulations on choosing the Kohler KD-7 player piano system ! A great
advancem ent over player pianos of yesterday, the Kohler KD-7 sets several new
standards for ease-of-use, versatility, convenience, and m usical realism . W hether you w ant soft
background m usic for conversation, the gentle m ood created by an upbeat jazz trio, or a powerful
sym phonic experience the Perfomance will accom m odate you with years of unsurpassed m usical
enjoym ent.
Overview
The M odelKohler - KD-7player piano system is a M ID I equipped m usic playback and record
system MID I is an acronym for M usical Instrum ent D igital Interface.
It is a universal language adopted by the m usical instrum ent m anufacturers so
various M ID I equipped devices can talk to each other. M ID I is a form of com m unication.
The KD-7 player system has two m ain parts, the Stationary Controller (the central brain) and the
solenoid rail (or engine). All 88 notes on the piano have a corresponding solenoid.
The KD-7 system perform s the M ID I m essages sent from either the internal CD-R OM, Internal
Library or external USB device. A message received by the KD-7 prompts the key solenoid to rise, hitting
the tail of the piano key.
Choosing a Good Location
To prevent excessive internal heat buildup in the electronic com ponents, place the piano in a location
with sufficient air circulation.
Do not install the piano:
Near heat sources such as radiators or hot air ducts.
In direct sun light.
In places where excessive dust, mechanical vibration or shocks exist.
