Do you have a question about the KRATOS 69K-761 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Kratos commercial reach-in refrigerators, covering models 69K-759, 69K-760, 69K-773, and 69K-761. It includes detailed instructions for service, installation, operation, and maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient use of the equipment.

Function Description

These units are commercial reach-in refrigerators designed for indoor use, providing reliable refrigeration for various food service environments. They are available in solid door (69K-759, 69K-773) and glass door (69K-760, 69K-761) configurations, with single or double door options. The refrigeration cycle ensures continuous operation of evaporator fans, even when doors are open, to maintain consistent temperatures. Solid door models feature lights activated by a door switch, while glass door models have manually operated lights. A key feature is the automatic defrost cycle, which occurs every 6 hours, allowing the evaporator coil to air defrost. The controller displays a defrost symbol during this period. The unit resumes normal operation once the coil temperature reaches 53°F (12°C) or after 30 minutes. Anti-condensation heaters on door frames work in conjunction with the compressor to prevent moisture buildup.

Important Technical Specifications

The Kratos refrigerators are designed to operate within a recommended holding temperature range of 34°F to 40°F (2°C to 5°C), with a factory preset temperature of 39°F (4°C). All models are self-contained and require a grounded 3-prong outlet for electrical connection.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the refrigerator.

  • Exterior and Interior Cleaning: Use soap and warm water for routine cleaning. For stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner and plastic scrub pad. Avoid abrasive cleaners, sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, or flammable fluids, as these can damage the unit's surface.
  • Condenser Coil Cleaning: Regular cleaning (every 90 days) is recommended to prevent debris and grease accumulation, which can lead to compressor failure and reduced efficiency. Use a simple brush or vacuum cleaner for light dust. For heavy grease, use a de-greasing agent and compressed air.
  • Stainless Steel Care: Clean stainless steel surfaces with soft cloths or plastic scouring pads, using alkaline-based or non-chloride-based cleaning solutions. Always rub with the grain of the steel. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid acid-based cleaning solutions, as many food products contain acids that can deteriorate the finish.
  • Gasket Maintenance: Clean gaskets regularly with warm soapy water to prevent mold and mildew and maintain elasticity. Avoid strong cleaning products and sharp tools. Gaskets are "Dart" style and can be easily replaced by pulling them out of the groove and pressing new ones into place.
  • Doors/Hinges: Periodically check and tighten the screws that mount the hinge brackets to the unit frame to prevent sagging doors and potential damage to hinges.
  • Drain Maintenance: The internal drain removes condensation to an external condensate evaporator pan. Ensure the drain tube is connected and free of obstructions to prevent water accumulation inside or underneath the unit. A level floor is also important for proper drainage.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
  • Do not remove the grounding prong or use adapters/extension cords.
  • Disconnect power before cleaning or servicing.
  • Use two or more people to move and install the refrigerator due to its weight.
  • Ensure proper ventilation with ambient temperatures between 50°F (10°C) and 100°F (38°C).
  • Install the unit in an area protected from elements like wind, rain, or water spray.
  • Do not locate the refrigerator near heat sources like ovens or grills.
  • Allow at least 24 hours after laying the unit on its side or back before start-up to allow compressor oil to settle.
  • Unit repairs resulting from improper installation procedures are not covered by standard warranties.
