If your KTM Motorcycle engine doesn’t crank, it could be due to an operating error, a discharged battery, or a defect in the ignition lock or emergency OFF switch. Turn on the ignition, switch the gear to neutral, and switch the emergency OFF switch on. Recharge the battery and investigate the causes for discharging. The membrane of slide may be defective. The carburetor may be leaking. The air filter may be very dirty. The valve clearance may be too small. There may be loss of compression because hand decompressor has no play. Electronic ignition timing may be faulty. Clean and check fuel system as well as carburetor. Replace the float. High oil consumption in your KTM Motorcycle can be caused by: * Buckling gear ventilation hose * Engine oil level being too high * Engine oil being too thin (viscosity) To resolve this, readjust or replace the ventilation hose, check the engine oil level when the engine is warm and correct if necessary, and use thicker engine oil.

Why is my KTM Motorcycle engine not revving high?
    • L
      Leah BuchananSep 3, 2025
If your KTM Motorcycle engine does not rev high, it could be due to several reasons: the carburetor fuel level being too high because the float needle is dirty or worn out, or the float leaks; the cold starting system is permanently activated due to a lack of play in the choke cable; a defective membrane of slide; the carburetor leaking; loose carburetor jets; or faulty electronic ignition timing. Dismount carburetor and check if worn out. Replace float needle. Replace float. Adjust choke cable. Replace membrane. Check vacuum hose and venting hoses of carburetor for correct position (no kinks). Tighten jets. Have ignition system checked.
