What to do if KTM 640 LC4 SUPERMOTO 2003 Motorcycle engine doesn’t crank?
    • B
      Brian PatelAug 1, 2025
If the engine won't crank, the issue might stem from an operating error, a discharged battery, or a defect in the ignition lock or emergency OFF switch. First, ensure the ignition is on, the gear is in neutral, and the emergency OFF switch is activated. If that doesn't work, recharge the battery, investigate why it discharged, or inspect the ignition lock and emergency OFF switch. If needed, contact a KTM dealer for assistance.

Several factors can cause this issue. It could be an operating error, or the motorcycle might have been out of operation for too long, leading to old fuel accumulation. Other potential causes include an interrupted fuel supply, a flooded engine, a sooty or wet spark plug, an incorrect electrode gap, a faulty spark plug or connector, oxidized CDI unit connections, water in the carburetor, or a faulty side stand switch. To resolve this, try opening the fuel tap, checking the fuel level, and ensuring you're using the choke correctly. If the motorcycle has been idle for over a week, drain the old fuel from the float chamber.
