Chapter 5
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Introduction
Cables, Connectors
Most of the cables with connectors are keyed, and therefore cannot be reversed. If a cable8s
connector is not keyed, the disassembly instructions will caution you. Some at ribbon cables
have locking cable clips. Be sure to reapply the clips when reconnecting cables.
In some cases, tape fastens cables to printed circuit boards or the cabinet. When disconnecting
cables, always peel back the tape from one side so that the tape remains properly positioned.
Many of the cables that travel throughout the cabinet use tie wraps and cable mounts to secure
and bundle them. Unless the service you are performing requires it, do not cut the tie wraps.
Should you need to do so, be sure to install new tie wraps.
Surface-Mount Devices
The removal and replacement of surface-mount devices requires training and proper
equipment. If you do not have the training or equipment to remove and replace surface-mount
devices, contact the Service Department to order a replacement board. International service
technicians should contact their appropriate Young Chang Distributor.
