Changing
System
Software
(Engine)
NOTE:
The
ICs
containing
the
K2000's
software
are
static
sensitive
devices.
OSE
ALL
STANDARD

-STATIC
PRECAUTIONS
WHEN
HANDLING
THESE
DEVICES'
To
replace
the
ICs:
1.
turn
the
unit
off
and
remove
the
AC
line
cord
from
the
AC
power
connector.
2.
Open
the
unit
as
described
in
Section
3.
3.
Locate
the
old
software
ICs
U3
and
U6,
on
the
Engine
Board
(Figure
2.6
above).
Remove
the
old
ICs
using
an
IC
puller
or
similar
tool.
Be
careful
not
to
damage
the
traces
on
the
board.
4.
Carefully
insert
the
new
IC
labeled
"LO"
in
the
socket
at
U3,
and
the
new
IC
labeled
"HI"
in
the
socket
at
U6.
Make
certain
the
ICs
are
oriented
with
pin
1
toward
the
front
of
the
unit.
Pin
1
is
on
the
end
of
the
IC
with
the
indentation.
5.
Inspect
for
proper
installation
-
make
sure
the
ICs
are
firmly
seated
into
the
sockets
and
that
none
of
the
pins
are
bent.
6.
Blose
the
unit
as
per
the
instructions
in
Section
3.
7.
Always
BARD
RESET
the
instrument
after
changing
the
software.
Note
that
all
user
data
in
RAM
will
be
erased.
A
hard
reset
can
be
performed
on
power-up
by
pressing
and
holding
the
"1",
"2"
and
"3"
buttons
on
the
numeric
keypad.
