K2600 “Best of V.A.S.T.” User’s Guide
“Best of V.A.S.T.” gathers together 200 of the finest programs ever created for the K2000, K2500, and K2600 along
with other useful objects such as “groove” setups.
Installing “Best of V.A.S.T.”
You will need the following to install “Best of V.A.S.T.” (if it is not already installed on your K2600):
• The “Best of V.A.S.T.” object files (OBJB400A and OBJB400B)
• Version 4 of the K2600 operating system
• Orchestral ROM
• Contemporary ROM
“Best of V.A.S.T.” is provided as two files, OBJB400A and OBJB400B, each of which fits on a floppy disk. Load these
files using your K2600’s Boot Loader (described in Appendix A of the K2600 Musician’s Guide ). Depending on the
options you have installed in your K2600 (such as sampling option or other sound ROMs), you may have to install
other object files as well; refer to the document Installing Kurzweil K2600 ROM Options , (Part No. 910336) for com-
plete information. If you are not yet running version 4 of the K2600 operating system, you will also have to install
this with the Boot Loader.
“Best of V.A.S.T.” requires that you have both the Orchestral ROM and the Contemporary ROM installed in your
K2600. Objects for the Orchestral and Contemporary ROMs are INCLUDED in the “Best of V.A.S.T.” set, so you do
not need to install them separately.
Compatibility Files
Included with the object files are a pair of compatibility files. These files are provided for people with sequences
that use programs in their previous (pre-Version 4) locations. Use Disk Mode (described in Chapter 13 of the K2600
Musician’s Guide ) to load the compatibility files as Everything-Merge files.
• V3PROG.K26 contains the old K2600 programs.
• V3PRGSU.K26 contains the old K2600 setups. This file also contains the old programs and songs
that were in the V3 version of the voicing, as the setups will not work without them.
