The manufacturer of the energy drink Red Bull established a new racing series for airplanes called Red Bull Airrace. Since
2003 the best pilots of the world are competing against each other in this airrace series. In these airraces the pilots have to
y through a corridor that is dened by inatable air gates. The air gates are 20 meters high. They are placed in a distance
of 10 to 14 meters from each other. The participiants y one by one through this track. The time and the number of mistakes
are counted. When a pilot hits an air gate or hif he makes amistake during a maneuver he will get a penalty.
The original EDGE 540 is one of the ost popular airplanes in the Red Bull Airrace series. The ight capabilities are almost
identical to the original. By the ultra fast response and the neutral ight beaviour the EDGE 540 is the rst choice for the
Red Bull Airrace series.
The model's construction is made of very light weight balsa and plywood. The wing halfs are made in balsa rip construction
and will be plugged to the fuselage. All parts are optimized for lightweight and are produced in a superb quality. The fuselage
is constructed as sceleton style. All parts are covered with lm, that is printed with the decal scheme. The cowling and the
wheelpants, made of FRP, are already painted in a marvellous quality.
Das von dem Energy Drink-Hersteller Red Bull ins Leben gerufene Air Racing ist eine vergleichsweise neue Disziplin
im Flugsport. Seit dem Jahre 2003 messen sich die besten Piloten der Welt alljährlich bei mehreren Luftrennen. Ziel
des Airraces ist es, einen mit aufblasbaren Air Gates gesteckten Kurs möglichst schnell abzuiegen und dabei die
vorgeschriebenen Manöver korrekt auszuführen. Air Gates sind 20 Meter hohe Pylonen, die in einem Abstand von
10 bis 14 Meter zueinander aufgestellt sind. Die Kontrahenten starten unmittelbar hintereinander. Für das Berühren
von Pylonen und für Fehler bei den Manövern werden Strafsekunden vergeben beziehungsweise Punkte abgezogen.
Das Original der EDGE 540 wird erfolgreich in der Red Bull Airrace Serie eingesetzt. Die Flugeigenschaften der KYOSHO
EDGE 540 stehen dem Original in nichts nach. Durch das schnelle Ansprechverhalten und das absolut neutrale Flugver-
halten, eignet sich die EDGE 540 perfekt für die Red Bull Airrace Serie.
Der Aufbau des Modells erfolgt in leichter Balsa-Sperrholzbauweise. Die Tragächenhälften in Balsa-Rippen-Leichtbauweise
besitzen eine Steckung und werden seitlich an den Rumpf angesetzt. Alle Bauteile sind gewichtsoptimiert und bestechen
durch die präzise Fertigungsqualität. Der Rumpf ist in besonders leichter Gitterbauweise aufgebaut. Alle Bauteile sind
mehrfarbig mit Folie bespannt, die Motorhaube und die Radverkleidungen aus GfK sind fertig lackiert.
