7 Correcting Faults
Fault Causes Fault rectification
No ignition flame forms.
No ignition sparks occur.
Possible cause
- No supply voltage on the
ignition burner.
Check supply voltage.
Ensure that the ignition burner is being cor-
rectly activated by the system control.
- Ignition electrode is
burnt down.
Replace ignition electrode.
- Distance between ignition
electrode and ground is
not correct or there is an
accidental ground pres
ent.
Check the distance between ignition electrode
and ground and correct, if necessary.
- Ignition electrode is
contaminated.
Rectify contamination using steel wool or sand-
paper until the electrode is bare.
- An insulator is broken. Replace insulator with spacer and centre
holder.
- Ignition transformer is
defective.
Replace ignition transformer.
The flame monitor switches to fault
condition during operation.
Ignition flame has been extinguished.
Possible cause
- Pressure in combustion
chamber fluctuating.
Provide for differential pressure control on the
gas and air side.
- Gas and air pressures
fluctuating.
- Main flame is influenced
by flows in the combus
tion chamber or due to
external deflection.
Correct the installation position and power of
the ignition burner.
- No combustion air in the
combustion chamber.
