Overview

The Landmann Brooke is an outdoor fire pit designed for recreational use, providing warmth and ambiance in an outdoor setting. It is available in models 25220 and 25222.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Landmann Brooke fire pit is to safely contain a wood or charcoal burning fire for outdoor enjoyment. It is intended for use as a heat source and for creating a focal point in outdoor spaces. The fire pit features a firebox where fuel is placed, a base for stability, and a spark guard to contain embers and sparks, enhancing safety during operation. A poker is included for tending the fire and managing the spark guard.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Assembly Time: Approximately 10 minutes.
  • Fuel Capacity: Up to 5 lbs of kindling and firewood.
  • Tools Required for Assembly: A Phillips or plain screwdriver and an adjustable wrench.
  • Construction: The fire pit consists of a firebox (A), a base (B), a spark guard (C), a spark guard hoop (D), and a poker (F).
  • Hardware: M6 x 12MM Bolts (AA) and M6 Flange Hexnuts (BB) are used for assembly. There are 8 bolts and 9 hexnuts in total.
  • Safety Features: Includes a spark guard to prevent embers from escaping and a poker for safe handling of fuel and the spark guard.

Usage Features:

  • Outdoor Use Only: This fire pit is strictly for outdoor use and must never be used indoors or in any enclosed areas due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Safe Surface Requirement: Must be used only on non-combustible surfaces such as brick, concrete, stone, or other masonry. It is explicitly forbidden for use on lawns, wooden decks, composite decks, asphalt, or any combustible surface.
  • Clearance Requirements: Maintain a minimum distance of 10 feet from buildings, structures, flammable items, and vehicles. It should never be used under low-hanging tree branches, trellises, or any kind of overhang, including covered porches.
  • Fuel Type: Designed for burning wood or charcoal.
  • Starting and Restarting Fires: Never use gasoline, alcohol, or other volatile fluids to start or restart fires.
  • Fuel Management: For longer product life, fires should be kept to a respectable size and not overloaded. Firewood should be carefully placed into the firebowl, not thrown.
  • Sand Layer: Before first use, a 1-1.5 inch layer of sand (approximately 5 lbs) should be added to the bottom of the firebox. This helps neutralize the corrosive nature of ashes and radiates heat upwards.
  • Adult Supervision: The fire pit is for adult use only. Children and pets must be supervised when around the fire pit during use.
  • Wind Conditions: Do not use in windy conditions.
  • Spark Guard Use: The spark guard must always be used during operation. Mittens or gloves should be used with the poker to remove the spark guard, as it becomes very hot. Caution is advised when removing the spark guard, as hot steam or a flare-up can cause burns.
  • Clothing Safety: Keep loose clothing away from the fire pit.
  • Unattended Use: Never leave the fire pit unattended while in use.
  • Movement: Do not move the fire pit during use.
  • Garbage Burning: Not to be used for burning garbage.
  • Impairment: Do not use while impaired by alcohol or any other substance.
  • Local Regulations: Users should check local laws and codes before using the fire pit.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: For best results, the fire pit should be cleaned after every use.
  • Cooling Down: Ensure the fire pit is completely cool and all embers are extinguished before cleaning or covering. Surfaces remain hot for some time after the fire has been extinguished.
  • Ash Disposal: Dispose of ashes in a proper receptacle only after they have cooled. Do not dump ashes where a fire can be started. Any sand in the firebox can be reused.
  • Removing Remaining Fuel: Use the poker or a shovel to remove any remaining firewood.
  • General Cleaning: If the fire pit needs cleaning, use a mild soap and water with a soft rag. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
  • Finish Renewal: The fire pit's finish may need to be refinished occasionally. Use a high-quality, high-heat paint to renew the finish.
  • Storage: Store the fire pit in a dry location, out of the weather and elements, to prevent tipping over and becoming a hazard.
  • Cover Use: A cover (Model 29335 is available as an accessory) should only be used after the fire pit is completely cool to the touch.
  • Pre-Use Check: Before each use, ensure the fire pit is in good working condition.
