Do you have a question about the Lauda LRZ 912 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The LAUDA Interface Module LRZ 912 is an analog module designed to expand the connectivity options of LAUDA constant temperature equipment. It allows for the reading and outputting of standard signals via current or voltage, enhancing the control and monitoring capabilities of the connected temperature control units.

Function Description

The LRZ 912 module integrates with LAUDA constant temperature equipment that supports an analog interface. It features two analog inputs and two analog outputs, which can be independently adapted to the specific requirements of the constant temperature equipment. This allows for flexible integration into various control systems.

The module supports both current (0-20 mA or 4-20 mA) and voltage (0-10 V) signals for both input and output. This versatility enables communication with a wide range of external sensors, actuators, and control systems.

Read Commands: The analog module can query operating data from the constant temperature equipment using various read commands. These include:

  • Temperature: Set point, bath temperature (outflow), controlled temperature (internal/external Pt/analog/serial), external temperature TE (Pt), and actual value of external temperature (via interface).
  • Pump: Outflow pressure/pump pressure (relative to atmosphere), flow rate, pump power, and pump speed.
  • Actuating Signal: Controller actuating signal.

Write Commands: The module also supports write commands to transfer values to the constant temperature equipment, such as:

  • Temperature: Set point and actual value of external temperature (via interface).
  • Pump: Pump power.

The availability of these interface functions may vary depending on the technical configuration and product line of the constant temperature equipment. Special functions, like outflow pressure or pump power, are only available if the equipment is appropriately equipped, potentially requiring optional accessories.

Usage Features

Compatibility: The LRZ 912 is compatible with several LAUDA product lines, including ECO, Integral XT, Integral IN, PRO, Proline, Variocool, and Variocool NRTL. Only one analog interface of the same type can be used per constant temperature equipment.

Installation: The module is designed for installation into vacant module slots within LAUDA constant temperature equipment or an external LiBus module box (LCZ 9727). Installation requires disconnecting the main power supply and observing electrostatic discharge precautions. The module is secured with two M3 x 10 screws.

Coding Switch: The printed circuit board includes a coding switch for internal addressing. For the module to operate, the adjusting wheel on the coding switch must be set to position "0" (factory setting). This setting should be verified before installation.

Configuration: The inputs and outputs of the analog interface can be configured through the constant temperature equipment's menu (Modules → Analog interf.). Users can define signal types (current or voltage), minimum and maximum values, and assign functions such as set temperature, controlled temperature, pump power, or flow. The working range of selected functions can be scaled by assigning limit values.

Calibration: To ensure continued safe operation and accuracy, the interface inputs and outputs should be regularly checked and recalibrated. Calibration typically reduces deviation to less than 0.1% of the full-scale value. The calibration process involves connecting a power source to the analog input, selecting "Yes" for the Calibration parameter in the interface menu, setting the power source to the lower and upper signaling limits, and confirming the settings.

LiBus Module Box (LCZ 9727): For constant temperature equipment with limited module slots, the LiBus module box can extend connectivity by providing two additional slots for interface modules with large covers. This external box connects to a vacant LiBus socket on the main equipment.

Maintenance Features

The interface module LRZ 912 is maintenance-free. However, regular cleaning of dust and dirt deposits from the connections is recommended, especially if the interfaces are not in use.

Cleaning:

  1. Disconnect the device from the mains supply before any cleaning work.
  2. Use a damp cloth or brush to remove dust and dirt.
  3. If using compressed air, set a low working pressure to prevent mechanical damage to the connections.
  4. Ensure no water or other fluids enter the device.

Repairs: Only specialized personnel are permitted to carry out repairs to prevent material damage. Unauthorized repairs will void all warranty claims.

Troubleshooting: In case of faults, the interface distinguishes between different message types (alarms, errors, warnings). Users should consult the operating manual of the constant temperature equipment for specific fault rectification instructions. If a fault cannot be resolved, LAUDA Service should be contacted.

Disposal: Packaging materials should be disposed of according to environmental regulations. The device itself must be properly decommissioned and disposed of at the end of its life cycle in accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and local disposal guidelines.
