Assembly

Handle

Loosen knobs, lift top handle, tighten knobs, rotate handle, adjust handle height and self-propelled cable.

Cover Plate

Install or remove cover plate for side discharge operation. Secure with wing screw after installing.

Operation

Starting Engine

Push primer, hold blade control bail, pull starter handle. Repeat if engine fails to start.

Stopping Engine

Release blade control bail. Engine and blade will stop. See dealer if they do not.

Self-propelled Drive

Squeeze self-propelled bail to operate. Release to disengage. Mower has free-wheeling clutches.

Adjusting Cutting Height

Adjust each wheel individually with a lever. Heights range from 1 to 3.5 inches.

Mulching Tips

General Tips

Maintain sharp blade, mow dry grass/leaves, clean deck underside, keep engine running, clean air filter.

Cutting Grass

Cut grass at appropriate heights, avoid cutting over 1/3 of blade. Mow tall grass in two passes, alternate direction.

Blade

Blade Straightness

Check blade balance by placing center hole over nail/shank. Grind end if it drops.

Blade Removal

Remove blade nut and mulching fan. Remove blade from driver. Examine blade edges for nicks, angle, sharpness.

Accessories

Grass Catchers

Stop engine, remove cover plate, place chute baffle, insert chute support rod, secure chute assembly.

Rear Grass Bags Only

Remove knob/bolt, position hanger clamp, secure bag hanger, close bag, position rear handles, grasp bag assembly handle.

Side Grass Bags Only

Remove right handle knob, route bag rod, slide grass bag handle down chute flange, hook grass bag onto rod.
