Function Description:

The Lawn-Boy Insight™ Lawn Mower is a walk-behind rotary lawn mower designed for cutting grass and leaves. It features a self-propel drive system to assist with movement and offers multiple clipping disposal options: mulching, bagging, and side discharge. The mower is powered by an engine that requires unleaded regular gasoline and SAE 30W detergent oil.

Usage Features:

Starting the Engine: Involves firmly pushing a red primer bulb (3 times for temperatures above 55°F (13°C), 5 times for colder temperatures) and holding the blade control bar against the handle while using the recoil starter.
Self-Propel Drive: Activated by squeezing the self-propel drive (lower) bar towards the handle. The maximum ground speed is fixed, but speed can be reduced by increasing the space between the self-propel drive bar and the handle.
Stopping the Engine: Release the blade control (upper) bar. The engine and blade should stop within 3 seconds.
Cutting Height Adjustment: All four wheels have levers that can be moved forward to raise the mower or rearward to lower it. All wheels should be set to the same height.
Clipping Disposal Options:
- Mulching: The mower comes factory-ready for mulching. Requires the mulch plug to be in place.
- Bagging: Use the grass bag to collect clippings. Requires removing the side discharge chute (if present) and locking the side discharge door.

Operating Tips:
- Clear the area of debris before mowing.

Recommended Maintenance Schedule:
- Each Use: Check engine oil level, remove grass clippings and dirt from under the housing.
- 1 Year (25 Hours): Replace air filter, change engine oil (after the first 2 operating hours, then yearly), replace/sharpen blade, lubricate wheel gears.
- 4 Years (100 Hours): Replace spark plug, clean cooling system.
- Annual Storage: Empty fuel tank, prepare mower for storage.
Preparing for Maintenance: Always stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
Engine Oil: Fill with SAE 30W detergent oil. Change after the first 2 operating hours, then yearly. Warm oil flows better for draining. Dispose of used oil properly.
Air Cleaner: Replace the air filter yearly, or more frequently in dusty conditions.
Blade: Examine regularly for damage, cracks, dullness, or nicks. Replace or sharpen as needed. Requires a torque wrench for proper installation (60 ft-lb / 82 N·m). Wear cloth or leather gloves when servicing.

Cleaning the Mower: With the engine running on a paved surface, spray water in front of the right rear wheel to clean clippings from under the housing. Run the engine for a few minutes afterward to dry the housing.
