This document is the owner's manual for the Electric Fireplace Insert, model numbers EF262-265A. It provides essential information for safe operation, installation, and maintenance of the device.
Function Description
The Electric Fireplace Insert is designed to provide supplemental heating and aesthetic ambiance with flame and mood light effects. It operates as an indoor-use-only heater and is not intended as a primary heat source. The unit features a manual control panel and a remote control for convenient operation. Users can power the fireplace on/off, cycle through various flame effects, adjust mood lighting, and control the heater's output (Low, High, Off). The heater function works independently of the room temperature, though a thermostat is included for temperature control. The device also includes a timer function, allowing users to set an operating duration from 0.5 to 9.0 hours. A crackling sound effect can be cycled through five different settings. The fireplace is designed to be recessed into a wall or installed into a wood mantel or cabinet.
The manual emphasizes several critical safety warnings. The heater's surfaces become hot during use, so bare skin should not touch them. Combustible materials (furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains) must be kept at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front, sides, and rear of the heater. Extreme caution is required when children or invalids are nearby or when the heater is left unattended. The heater should not be operated with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions or is damaged. Foreign objects must not be inserted into ventilation or exhaust openings to prevent electric shock or fire. The device is for indoor use only and should never be used outdoors. To disconnect the heater, controls should be turned off, and power should be shut off at the main disconnect panel. Air intakes and exhaust must not be blocked to prevent fire. The heater contains hot, arcing, or sparking parts and should not be used in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are stored. Only properly grounded outlets should be used. The heater should not be placed near a bed. It is explicitly stated that the heater must NEVER be used in bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any location where it could come into contact with water. Air vents should be regularly inspected and cleaned with a vacuum only, never rinsed or wetted. The heater should not be used with solid-state speed control devices. It is for residential use only; commercial use voids all warranties and could cause injury. The heater must NEVER be modified, as this voids warranties and can cause personal injury or property damage. The unit must always be disconnected from the power supply before assembly, cleaning, or relocation. It should never be left unattended and always unplugged when not in use. Storage should be in a dry location, and the fireplace should not be used if it has become wet. The heater must ONLY be used on a 120V AC 15-Amp circuit, and the circuit should never be overloaded. If the circuit breaker trips, other appliances on the same circuit should be unplugged before further use. Plugging into old, cracked, or loose outlets is prohibited due to the risk of electric arcing, overheating, or fire. The heater cord and plug connections should be checked before each use to ensure a tight fit and to monitor for overheating. If the plug or faceplate becomes hot, discontinue use and have a qualified electrician inspect/replace faulty outlets. The heater uses a three-blade grounding type plug; if only two-slot receptacles are available, an adapter with a grounding lug connected to a grounded outlet box by a metal screw should be used.
