Overview

This document provides installation instructions for the SureLight Ignition Control Replacement Kit (19V36), designed for Lennox gas furnaces. The kit replaces existing single-stage SureLight ignition controls, including models 69M0801, 32M8801, 10M9301, 56L8401, 12L6901, 97L4801, 63K8901, 56L8301, and 24L8501.

Function Description:

The SureLight Ignition Control is a critical component in a gas furnace, responsible for managing the ignition sequence and ensuring safe operation. It controls the combustion air inducer, ignitor, and gas valve, and monitors various safety parameters such as flame presence and pressure switch status. This replacement kit provides all necessary components to upgrade or repair the ignition system, ensuring continued reliable and safe furnace operation.

Kit Contents:

The kit (Package 1 of 1) includes:

  • 1 Replacement ignition control
  • 1 Wiring harness (9-pin to 12-pin)
  • 1 Wiring harness (4-pin to 6-pin)
  • 2 Ignitor mounting brackets
  • 1 Replacement ignitor
  • 1 Ignitor harness adapter
  • 1 Diagnostic sticker
  • 2 Screws
  • 3 Wire nuts
  • 1 Wire
  • 1 Wiring diagram

Important Technical Specifications and Features:

Ignition Control:

  • Compatibility: Designed to replace various single-stage SureLight ignition controls in Lennox gas furnaces.
  • Mounting: The replacement control is designed to snap into place in the control box for specific furnace models (e.g., 80UHG, 90UGF, G23, G26, GHR26, G32, GHR32, G40, G41, G50, G51, G60, G61 units). For other models (e.g., 80MGF, G24M, G27M units), new mounting holes may need to be drilled.
  • Transformer Wiring: The replacement control features an integral 5-amp fuse for low voltage circuit protection, eliminating the need for external circuit breakers or fuse assemblies in the furnace.
  • Flame Sense: The flame sense signal is routed to pin 2 of the 12-pin connector on the replacement control.
  • Terminal Designations:
    • 12-Pin Connector: Includes terminals for High Limit Output, Flame Sense, 24V Line, Rollout Switch Out, 24V Neutral, High Limit Input, Ground, Gas Valve Common, Pressure Switch In, Rollout Switch In, and Gas Valve Out.
    • 4-Pin Connector: Includes terminals for Combustion Air Inducer Line, Ignitor Line, Combustion Air Inducer Neutral, and Ignitor Neutral.
    • Other QC Terminals (1/4"): COOL-H, HEAT-H, PARK, LINE-H, XFMR-H, EAC-H, HUM-H, LINE-H, HUM-N, EAC-N, XFMR-N, CIR-N. These correspond to various functions like cooling, heating, transformer, humidifier, and electronic air cleaner connections.

Diagnostic Features:

  • LED Status Codes: The control is equipped with an LED that provides diagnostic feedback:
    • LED Off: No power or control hardware fault.
    • LED On: Normal operation.
    • 1 Flash: Flame present with gas valve de-energized.
    • 2 Flashes: Pressure switch closed with combustion air inducer de-energized.
    • 3 Flashes: Pressure switch open with combustion air inducer energized.
    • 4 Flashes: Primary limit switch open.
    • 5 Flashes: Rollout switch open.
    • 6 Flashes: Pressure switch cycle lockout.
    • 7 Flashes: Lockout, burners fail to light.
    • 8 Flashes: Lockout, burners lost flame too many times.
    • 9 Flashes: Line voltage polarity incorrect.
  • Push Button Switch for Diagnostic Code Recall: The control stores the last 5 fault codes in non-volatile memory. Pressing the push button switch for less than 5 seconds will flash the stored fault codes (most recent first, oldest last, with a 2-second pause between codes). Holding the button for more than 5 seconds clears the fault code history.

Usage Features:

  • Wiring Harnesses: The kit includes specific wiring harnesses (9-pin to 12-pin and 4-pin to 6-pin) to ensure proper connectivity between the new control and existing furnace components.
  • Ignitor Harness Adapter: A 2-pin ignitor harness adapter is provided to connect the new ignitor to the existing furnace connector.
  • Wiring Diagrams: A new wiring diagram (5380770-01) is included to be affixed over the existing unit wiring diagram, along with a diagnostic sticker for easy reference.

Maintenance Features:

  • Diagnostic LED and Push Button: These features simplify troubleshooting by providing clear fault codes and access to historical fault data, aiding in quick diagnosis and repair.
  • Replacement Components: The kit provides all necessary components for a comprehensive replacement, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.

Safety Precautions:

  • WARNING: Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance can cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life. Installation and service must be performed by a licensed professional HVAC installer or equivalent, service agency, or the gas supplier.
  • WARNING: Always disconnect power before servicing the unit.
  • CAUTION (Electrostatic Discharge - ESD): Electrostatic discharge can affect electronic components. Take precautions to neutralize electrostatic charge by touching your hand and tools to metal prior to handling the control.
  • CAUTION (Sharp Edges): Contact with sharp sheet metal edges can result in personal injury. Take care while handling this equipment and wear gloves and protective clothing.
  • Shipping Damage: Check all equipment for shipping damage. If damaged, immediately contact the last carrier.
