PLACING UNIT INTO OPERATION
(Electronic Gas Valves)
Fireplaces equipped with an ignition device which will au-
tomatically light the burner. Do not try to light the burner
by hand. Follow these instructions exactly.
GAS V ALVE OPERA TION- Electronic V alve (Figure 3)
1- STOP! Read the safety information at the beginning
of this section.
2- In applications using an optional wall-mounted
switch or optional thermostat - Turn OFF ap-
pliance-mounted switch and leave OFF. Turn OFF
wall-mounted switch or set thermostat to lowest set-
ting.
In applications using only an appliance-mounted
switch - Turn OFF appliance-mounted switch.
3 - T urn off all electrical power to the appliance.
4 - This appliance is equipped with an ignition device
which automatically lights the burner. Do not try to
light the burner by hand.
5 - W ait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. If you then
smell gas, STOP! Immediately call your gas supplier
from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s in-
structions. If you do not smell gas go to next step.

6 - Restore electrical power to the appliance.
7- In applications using an optional wall-mounted
switch or optional thermostat - Turn ON wall-
mounted switch or set thermostat to desired setting.
In applications using only an appliance-mounted
switch - Turn ON appliance-mounted switch.
8 - If the appliance will not operate, follow the instruc-
tions to turn off gas to unit and call a service techni-
cian or gas supplier.
TURNING OFF GAS TO UNIT
1- Turn OFF appliance-mounted switch. and in addi-
tion, if wall-mounted switch or thermostat is used,
turn OFF wall-mounted switch or set thermostat to
lowest setting.
2 - T urn off all electrical power to appliance.
3- TurnOFF gas supply at main manual shut-off valve lo-
cated near the fireplace.
PLACING FIREPLACE INTO OPERATION
1- In applications using an optional wall-mounted
switch or optional t hermostat - Turn OFF ap-
pliance-mounted switch and leave OFF. Turn ON
wall-mounted switc h or s et thermos tat to desired
setting.
In applications using only an appliance-
mounted switch - Turn ON appliance-mounted
switch.
2- Optional standard blower, if installed, will energize
immediately. Burner tube will ignite in approximately
three to five seconds.
Optional deluxe blower, if installed, will self-energize
when a comfortable minimum temperature has been
reached.
NOTE - Immediately after burner tube ignites, condensate
may temporarily fog glass. This is normal. Fog will clear as
soon as temperatures within the fire box rise. If droplets
continue to form after 15 minutes of operation on a high-
flame setting, contact a qualified service technician.
NOTE - Soft ceramic logs will not begin to glow immediately
after start-up. These logs will glow after approximately 15
minutes of operation on the high-flame setting.
NOTE - During the initial operation of the appliance, a
white film my form on the inside of the glass. This is normal.
If this occurs, clean the glass after the first 5 hours of use.
