Toinstallanoperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetastherststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.WhenthemessagePressanykeytobootfromcdordvd...isdisplayed,pressanykey.
3.ThemessageWindowsisloadingles...isdisplayed,andinstallationleswillbecopiedfromthesetup
DVDtoyourserver.Thisprocesstakesseveralminutes.
4.IntheMicrosoft(R)Hyper-V(TM)Serverinstallationwindow,selectalanguagefortheinstallation
interface.
5.IntheMicrosoft(R)Hyper-V(TM)Serverinstallationwindow,congurethefollowingoptionsasyouneed
andthenclickNext.
•Languagetoinstall
•Timeandcurrencyformat
•Keyboardorinputmethod
6.ClickInstallnow.
7.ReadthelicensetermsandclickIacceptthelicenseterms.ThenclickNext.
8.SelectCustom(Advanced)forfreshinstallation.
9.Whenallharddiskdrivesavailableontheserveraredisplayed,dooneofthefollowingtoselector
createadrivepartitioninwhichtoinstalltheoperatingsystem:
•Createapartitionautomatically:Ifyouwanttousetheentireharddiskdriveasoneprimarypartition,
selectDisk0unallocatedspacefortheharddiskdriveonwhichyouwanttoinstalltheoperating
systemandthenclickNext.Apartitionwillbecreatedautomatically.
•Manuallycreateapartition:Ifyouwanttocreateapartitionmanually,dothefollowing:
a.SelectDisk0unallocatedspacefortheharddiskdriveonwhichyouwanttoinstalltheoperating
system,clickDriveoptions(advanced),andthenclickNew.
b.Typetheamountofspace(inMB),andthenclickApply.
c.ClickNext.
Theselecteddrivepartitionwillbeformattedandtheapplicableleswillbecopiedtothedrivepartition.
Thisprocesstakesseveralminutes.Afterthat,theserverwillrestart.
Note:AmessageNodriveswerefoundmightbedisplayedindicatingthatyoudonothaveamass
storagedevicedriverinstalled.T oinstallamassstoragedevicedriver,connecttheUSBstoragedevice
containingtheRAIDcontrollerdrivertoyourserver,andthenselectLoadDriver.
Thesetupwillcontinueaftertheserverrestarts.Whentheinstallationiscompleted,theserverrestarts
again.
10.Beforeyoulogontotheserverforthersttime,dothefollowingtocompletethesetup:
a.PressCTRL+ALT+DELETE,thenclickOtherUser.
b.TypeAdministratorintheUsernameeld.LeavethePasswordeldblank.ThenpressEnter.
c.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentochangethepassword.
Note:Thepasswordmustbeacombinationofuppercaseletters,lowercaseletters,andnumbers.
Afteryounishinstallinganoperatingsystem,youmightneedtodownloadandinstallrequireddevice
driverstoensurethatthehardwaredevicesinyourserverworkcorrectly.
Todownloadandinstalladevicedriver,dothefollowing:
