6.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheheatsinkandfanassemblytothesystemboard.Itis
recommendedthatyoucarefullyremovethefourscrewsfromthesystemboardusingthefollowing
methodtoavoidanypossibledamagetothesystemboard.
a.Partiallyremovescrew1,thencompletelyremovescrew2,andthenreturntoscrew1and
completelyremoveit.
b.Partiallyremovescrew3,thencompletelyremovescrew4,andthenreturntoscrew3and
completelyremoveit.
Note:Thefourscrewsareintegratedpartsoftheheatsinkandfanassembly.Donottrytoremovethe
fourscrewsfromtheheatsinkandfanassembly.

7.Gentlytwisttheheatsinkandfanassemblytofreeitfromthemicroprocessor,andthenlifttheheatsink
andfanassemblyoffthesystemboard.
8.Layasidetheoldheatsinkandfanassembly.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthenew
heatsinkandfanassemblytoanyunpaintedsurfaceontheoutsideoftheserver.Then,removethenew
heatsinkandfanassemblyfromthepackage.
Notes:
•Whenhandlingtheheatsinkandfanassembly,donottouchthethermalgreaseonthebottomofit.
•Beforeinstallingthenewheatsinkandfanassembly,usethecleaningpadthatcomeswiththenew
heatsinkandfanassemblytowipethethermalgreasefromthetopofthemicroprocessor.Dispose
ofthecleaningpadafterallthermalgreaseisremovedfromthemicroprocessor.
9.Placethenewheatsinkandfanassemblyonthesystemboardsothateachofthefourscrewsonthe
newheatsinkandfanassemblyisinsertedintothecorrespondingmountingstudonthebackplane.
Notetheorientationofthenewheatsinkandfanassemblyandensurethatyouproperlyplaceitsothat
youcaneasilyconnecttheheatsinkandfanassemblycabletothemicroprocessorfanconnectoron
