Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG Wall Mounted Air Conditioner, providing comprehensive information on its operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Function Description:

The LG Wall Mounted Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (for heat pump models), dehumidification, and air circulation for indoor spaces. It utilizes advanced technologies such as Plasma Purification (optional on some models) to enhance air quality by removing microscopic contaminants. The unit can be controlled via a wireless remote, offering various modes and settings for user comfort.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual outlines operating temperature ranges for both Non-Inverter and Inverter models. For Non-Inverter models:

  • Cooling Mode: Indoor temperature maximum 32°C, minimum 21°C. Outdoor temperature maximum 43°C, minimum 21°C.
  • Heating Mode: Indoor temperature maximum 27°C, minimum 20°C. Outdoor temperature maximum 24°C, minimum 1°C. For Inverter models:
  • Cooling Mode: Indoor temperature maximum 32°C, minimum 18°C. Outdoor temperature maximum 48°C, minimum -10°C.
  • Heating Mode: Indoor temperature maximum 30°C, minimum 18°C. Outdoor temperature maximum 24°C, minimum -10°C. The remote control uses 2 AAA (1.5 volt) batteries.

Usage Features:

The air conditioner offers a wide array of usage features for enhanced comfort and control:

  • ON/OFF Button: To turn the unit on or off.
  • Operation Mode Selection Button: Allows selection between Cooling, Auto Operation/Auto Changeover, Healthy Dehumidification, Heating (only heat pump models), and Air Circulation.
  • Room Temperature Setting Buttons: Used to adjust the desired room temperature. For cooling, the range is 18°C-30°C; for heating, it's 16°C-30°C.
  • Indoor Fan Speed Selection Button: Offers six fan speed steps: low, medium-low, medium, medium-high, high, and natural wind. Natural wind mode automatically changes fan speed to simulate a natural breeze.
  • Horizontal Vane Control Button: Sets the vertical airflow direction.
  • Vertical Louver Control Button (Optional): Sets the horizontal airflow direction.
  • Auto Clean Button: Activates a function that dries up moisture inside the indoor unit after cooling or dehumidification operation, preventing mold and odors.
  • Energy Saving Cooling Button: Optimizes cooling operation for energy efficiency by adjusting temperature and body-adaptation time.
  • Room Temperature Checking Button: Displays the current room temperature.
  • Timer Button: Used to set the current time and schedule start/stop times for the unit.
  • Time Adjusting Buttons: Adjusts the time for timer settings.
  • Timer Set/Clear Button: Confirms or cancels timer operations.
  • Reset Button: Used prior to resetting time.
  • Plasma Button (Optional): Initiates or stops plasma purification, which uses high-charge electrons to remove microscopic contaminants from the air. This can be used in any operation mode or independently when the unit is off.
  • LED Luminosity Button (Optional): Adjusts the brightness of the unit's display LED (100% or 50% luminosity).
  • ECO EYE Button (Premium type, Optional): Controls airflow by sensing the position of residents, directing air towards or away from them. It can also enter an Energy Saving mode if no one is detected for 20 minutes. This feature is not active during Moisture Cooling or Sleep Mode.
  • Jet Cool/Moisture Cooling Button (Premium type, Optional): Initiates rapid cooling (Jet Cool) at super high fan speed and 18°C for 30 minutes, or rapid heating (Jet Heat) at super high fan speed and 30°C for 60 minutes (heat pump models only). Moisture Cooling prevents excessive dryness by logic control, maintaining room humidity.
  • Jet Cool Button (Rational type, Optional): Similar to Jet Cool/Moisture Cooling, but specifically for rapid cooling.
  • Sleep Mode Auto Button: Sets an automatic shut-off timer for 1 to 7 hours. In sleep mode, the indoor fan operates at super low speed (cooling) or low speed (heating) for comfortable sleep. In cooling or healthy dehumidification mode, the setting temperature rises by 1°C twice over 30 minutes (maximum 2°C).
  • Forced Operation: Allows the unit to operate without the remote control in cooling mode at high fan speed (22°C setting for cooling/dehumidification, 23°C for healthy dehumidification, 24°C for heating).
  • Auto Restart Function: Restores previous operating conditions after a power failure. This feature is enabled by default but can be disabled/enabled by pressing the ON/OFF button for 6 seconds.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the air conditioner:

  • Indoor Unit Cleaning: Clean with a soft dry cloth. Avoid harsh detergents, solvents, or water hotter than 40°C.
  • Air Filters: Check and clean every 2 weeks or more often. Remove filters, clean with a vacuum cleaner or warm soapy water, dry in shade, and reinstall.
  • Plasma Filter: Check and clean every 3 months or more often. Clean with a vacuum cleaner or water, dry in shade, and reinstall.
  • Allergy Free Filter + Triple Filter: Remove and expose to direct sunlight for 2 hours, then reinstall.
  • Outdoor Unit: Regularly check heat exchanger coils and panel vents for dirt or soot. Professional steam cleaning may be required.
  • Self-Diagnosis Function: The unit has an inbuilt error diagnosis capability, indicated by the LED blinking if a thermistor fails. Users are advised to contact a serviceman/dealer in such situations.
  • Troubleshooting Tips: The manual provides a chart for common problems (e.g., unit not starting, not cooling) and their possible causes and solutions (e.g., checking power plug, circuit breaker, airflow, filter cleanliness, temperature settings, heat sources).
  • Professional Service: Users are instructed to call for service immediately if abnormal conditions occur (burning smell, loud noise, hot power cord, error code, water leakage, switch/breaker failure). Routine checkup and cleaning should be performed by the user, but special situations require a service person.
